The Egyptian goddess Isis was celebrated as the ideal wife and mother. The blogger known as Dr. Isis has some fancy-sounding degrees and is a physiologist at a major research university working on some terribly impressive stuff. She blogs about balancing her research career with the demands of raising small children, how to succeed as a woman in academia, and anything else she finds interesting. Also, she blogs about shoes. In fact, she blogs a lot about shoes.

...And behold, he raised the motherfucking Jameson on high as Isis bedecked her feet in glory, and the masses were sated. -- The Holy Gospel According to PhysioProf

I have decided that next time I get married, this is exactly what it is going to be like:

@Who Cares- look, she's a Goddess. She has a Harem. I see no reason monogamy need be expected.

Now who ever said the wedding ceremony itself has to be solemn and boring. Unfortunately, I dance like a spazz and this would not work for me. Think Elaine from Sienfeld.

That was so adorable!

...
Sitting here, watching, with a big smile on and a ...truelol... or three.

The unexpected turn, particularly at a seemingly solemn occasion, is always a riot when well done.

I can hardly wait to see the birth video . . ..

Makes for a memorable wedding. I wonder if the divorce will be as memorable.

I love this video. I posted it on my blog a few days ago, after the entire wedding party re-created this on the Today show, despite one of the former groomsmen being in a cast!

That is adorable. It reminds me of the wedding scene in "Love Actually."

Yeah, but a song by Chris Brown? Icky. What an effin' scum bag!

I love the idea of dancing down the aisle, but the first time I saw this video, it was accompanied by a link to an online music store (might have been iTunes) where you could buy the song. So I was immediately convinced this wasn't a real wedding, but an ad.

Turns out that someone I knew in grad school was acquainted with the happy couple, and his mother was at the wedding!

Although the choice of song (Chris Brown? and does he keep saying "we just have one night...") leaves something to be desired, it's made up for in how damn happy everyone looks! And when the groom goes down the aisle to pick up the dancing bride? Alright yes, I teared up a bit. Fine. There. You happy?

Yet another reason why the reception pictures are always better than the ceremony ones. I have one from my brother's wedding on the wall where my entire family (including the in-laws) is dancing and laughing. It's great.

The next time I get married... ain't happening!
Even if the hubster dies or ditches me, I do not have the time or desire to break in another man. Not to live with, anyway.
