I am loving reading about all of the people who come to visit this humble (but deliciously hilarious) little blog. I am also loving how many of you are 'fessing up to your love of the shoes. I will confess some things in return.
My first sex dream was about Doogie Howser. I can't help it. I have a bit of a penchant for nerdy men who can talk science to me. I feel better now for having confessed that -- as though we can continue on together with a level of established honesty between us.
Figure 1: I mean, how could you not?
My first fantasy, however, was about these:
Figure 2: I mean, seriously, what little girl (or boy with size 13 feet) didn't want these?
So, knowing how many of you are here for the shoes, I know that you'll understand how I couldn't help but be slightly aroused this morning when I saw these:
Figure 3: Ayanna by rsvp. $93.00 at Zappos.
I have to say that I was saddened, after reading the request for size 13 heels, that these are only available up to size 11. Still, never let it be said that Isis is not benevolent or that she does not love her little chickens.
Figure 4: Christiana by J. Renee in Metallic Pewter Snake. Personally, I would love to see a metallic pewter snake because I think it would be awesome. $106.95 at Zappos. I think $106.95 is probably a sweet deal for something made out of metallic pewter snake because I imagine metallic pewter snakes are probably very rare.

Comments
Incidentally, I saw a documentary on the making of the Wizard of Oz the other day and heard that the "ruby slippers" were originally supposed to be silver. So there's that.

I actually have a pair of pumps in "pewter snake." They were less than $100, so I must assume that metallic pewter snakes are far rarer than the plain pewter snake. Although how pewter can be nonmetallic is beyond my little brain.
On my son's baseball team, 1 kid has a pair of red baseball spikes. I always joke that he wears them so he can click his heels together 3 times and go to home...
Groan, now, if you like.

Minerva,
In the original book the ruby slippers were indeed silver.
Dr. Isis,
Figure 2 reminds of a question I've wanted to ask: What's your stance on heels + socks?

I want to know too, heels and socks?? What if the socks can't be seen? Or if it is one of those Mary Jane type shoes with heels?

I've been coveting my own pair of ruby slippers for AGES now.

My stance is, unless you're Dorothy or simialrly adorable, abso-freaking-lutely not, little muffin.

Sorry, I don't think you're Neil Patrick Harris' type. Not enough Y chromosomes.

I hear you on your Doogie love. NPH is just so friggin wonderful, with his Barney-ing and his Dr Evil-ing. It is almost too good to take.

I can live without the socks, but at least tell me that opaque tights are goddess approved...
Posted by: LostMarbles | July 9, 2009 5:53 PM
Opaque tights must be acceptable, especially for those of us whose winter climate doesn't allow bare legs, unless you like them blue with goosebumps!
Skin-colored hose, on the other hand, seem sad. Perhaps less sad than socks, but not by much. At least until the wheel of fashion changes again!

I had a mad crush on NPH too. I still adore him, though. Besides Dr. Evil and Barney (and Doogie), he made an amazing Toby in the concert version of Sweeney Todd. Not to mention the Fairy Shoe Person on Sesame Street (look it up on YouTube!).
