The Egyptian goddess Isis was celebrated as the ideal wife and mother. The blogger known as Dr. Isis has some fancy-sounding degrees and is a physiologist at a major research university working on some terribly impressive stuff. She blogs about balancing her research career with the demands of raising small children, how to succeed as a woman in academia, and anything else she finds interesting. Also, she blogs about shoes. In fact, she blogs a lot about shoes.

...And behold, he raised the motherfucking Jameson on high as Isis bedecked her feet in glory, and the masses were sated. -- The Holy Gospel According to PhysioProf

DonorsChoose Update and Matching Offers from HP

Category: DonorsChoose
Posted on: October 20, 2009 3:57 PM, by Isis the Scientist

We are doing really well in the DonorsChoose Challenge, little muffins. We've broken the $3000 mark in giving and have 6 projects left in order to fully fund everything I selected. If you keep this up, I will be dancing like a chicken for certain.

Also, HP has made a special offer to help our cause. HP will make an additional contribution to our cause based on how much we are able to raise by Sunday. Here is the official email from them:

HP has been tracking the competition closely and has already made a $50 contribution to your page, as a result of all of your hard work. The good news? HP wants to make yet another contribution to your Giving Page. The more you raise by this Sunday, October 25, the more HP will contribute! Next week, we will distribute $200,000, the rest of HP's contribution, to all Social Media Challenge Giving Pages. But this time, your share will be calculated on a pro-rata basis based on the amount you've raised by Sunday. What does that mean? Now is the time to motivate your readers, followers, friends, fam and fans to donate to your page, so you can claim a larger share of the funds! And there's yet another bonus: after the Challenge is over, everyone who donated to your Giving Page will get a DonorsChoose.org Giving Card, courtesy of HP. Those donors will get to decide which projects are supported with HP's $200,000 in funds.

If you've been holding out, now is a great time to make your donation. Between now and then I will add the $100 you've raised this weeks in your clicks, as I promised, and will keep counting clicks until the end of the month.

Onward, little muffins! Onward!
