The Egyptian goddess Isis was celebrated as the ideal wife and mother. The blogger known as Dr. Isis has some fancy-sounding degrees and is a physiologist at a major research university working on some terribly impressive stuff. She blogs about balancing her research career with the demands of raising small children, how to succeed as a woman in academia, and anything else she finds interesting. Also, she blogs about shoes. In fact, she blogs a lot about shoes.

...And behold, he raised the motherfucking Jameson on high as Isis bedecked her feet in glory, and the masses were sated. -- The Holy Gospel According to PhysioProf

Monday Afternoon Intermission

Posted on: November 9, 2009 6:09 PM, by Isis the Scientist

I can tell that I am tired this afternoon because I have been around the building, showing this to everyone I can find. I laughed so hard I cried and every viewing is funnier.

I think random beatboxing about mundane events may be the new meme to sweep the science-bloggy interwebz. At least, I hope it is.....

I think you would be amazing at it. I think I will email Marty and ask that an entire session at EB be done in beatbox.

Wowwie... this is one of those times that I wish science had figured out how I can crawl inside this person's brain...

I do this all day in the library, but maybe I don't record it for a good reason.

Now this is going to be stuck in my head ALL DAY LONG. And then I'm going to have to come home and clean up all the milk I just spit all over my desk. Thanks, Isis :)

Sequence of events:
*click to start video*
*put earphones in*
*look puzzled and amused*
*click around on other tabs while listening*
*think 'where IS the chapstick?'*
*open drawer*
*find Burts Bees lip shimmer*
*click back to Dr. Isis tab*
*see what appears to be exactly the same chapstick in video*
*get worried*

I thought this was pretty funny - but not until the end when she says she needs to 'get a life'. I know where she's coming from!

...
Ditto the first two comments.

Uhmmm, watching the fan whirring overhead in the background was more entertaining than the intended bit.

But I guess your 'Charlie bit me' link later makes up for it. ...:minism:...
