How common is it for female lions to have manes?

Posted by: Brad | May 10, 2008 9:14 AM

I have no idea, Brad. This was the first time I saw it, although the fact that the "maned" female exhibits the whiter condition may have something to do with it. I'm trying to find out more but have come up empty so far. If I find out I'll write about it.

Maybe the one at the back was just a subadult male. Did you get the chance to look at its 'junk'? =)
