I agree with Phil that it’s a good term. In fact, when I have to talk about intelligent design, these slides are how I illustrate its evolutionary roots.

The only problem is that in this case, the transitional form doesn’t have any definition or value on its own. It is indeed a cow with two legs, or whatever other strawtransition the creationists like to use.
