Obama/Brown Supporters Wanted Left-Wing Healthcare

Category: DemocratsHealthcare
Posted on: January 21, 2010 11:53 AM, by Mike

Keep in mind that eighteen percent of those who voted for Obama in 2008 voted for Brown--if Coakley had kept half of these voters (or even a third), she wins. Now my head goes boom:

HEALTH CARE BILL OPPONENTS THINK IT "DOESN'T GO FAR ENOUGH"

  • by 3 to 2 among Obama voters who voted for Brown
  • by 6 to 1 among Obama voters who stayed home

VOTERS OVERWHELMINGLY SUPPORT THE PUBLIC OPTION

  • 82% of Obama voters who voted for Brown

  • 86% of Obama voters who stayed home

OBAMA VOTERS WANT DEMOCRATS TO BE BOLDER

  • 57% of Brown voters say Obama "not delivering enough" on change he promised
  • 49% to 37% among voters who stayed home

Dirty Fucking Hippies.

i think the message being sent is "If Democrats refuse to actually do anything to fix the system then we may as well let Repubicans finish breaking everything".

If I were a Massachusetts resident I'd have held my nose & voted for Coakley even though her campaign had all the enthusiasm of soggy toast but maybe that's because I've been holding my breath due to Lieberman for the past couple of years.

It just goes to show how screwed up the Obama supporters who voted for Brown are.

My guess for why an Obama supporter would vote against Coakley is her horrible record as a DA. Perhaps some Obama supporters were principled enough to not overlook her conduct regarding Arimault's parole, since I though at least some people on the left weren't fond of leaving people who had been railroaded in prison to improve a DA's tough on crime credentials.

The stupidity of the American people never disappoints.

The question is, will the Obama Admin. and the other Dems in congress actually look at the polls and realize they need to do more, to be bolder? Will they get that they are losing because they aren't delivering what they promised? That people want health care, they want energy reform, they want the change Obama promised?

My guess is, no. They'll capitulate even more and deliver even less.

Though frankly, after the Supreme Court ruling, my outrage-ometer is burnt out.

I would like to think that this is a wakeup call, but I am not too optimistic. I agree with Kathy, that change like this really needs to be treated as a revolutionary sort of action, that moving to sensible health care delivery system must be done right way the first time.

I think that those who voted for Brown may have been liberals trying to tell the Democrats to stop fucking with them and do what they are supposed to do: be liberals.
