This image of the brainstem of a Brainbow mouse, by Jean Livet of Harvard University, has just been awarded 1st prize in the 2007 Olympus Bioscapes International Digital Imaging Competition.

You might be interested to know that the 2008 winners of the Olympus BioScapes microscope photography competition were just announced yesterday. Once again, the intersection of science and art is awe-inspiring. A photo of a tiny wasp took first prize. Check them all out at www.olympusbioscapes.com.
