Neurosexism & the neuroenhancement of love

Category: AcademiaNeurosciencePhilosophy
Posted on: March 18, 2008 4:06 PM, by Mo

The first issue of a new peer-reviewed journal called Neuroethics is available online. Edited by Neil Levy, a regular contributor to Experimental Philosophy and The Garden of Forking Paths, the journal offers free access to the full text of all published papers throughout 2008 and 2009.

Neuroethics will publish research papers, discussion articles and short communications relating to the ethical, legal, political, social and philosophical implications of research in neuroscience, psychiatry and psychology.

Judging by the first issue, this is going to be a very interesting journal: it includes an article on the current abilities and future possibilities of the "neuroenhancement of love" - that is, the manipulation of lust, attraction and attachment. Another discusses the ethical implications of the errors that creep into popular books about gender differences which draw on findings from neuroscience research.
