The Evil Monkey has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from a southeastern U.S. university. After a postdoctoral nightmare of Inquisitorial proportions, he is currently working in a laboratory and an adjunct assistant professor at a nearby state university.
Scicurious is a graduate student wrestling with a PhD in Physiology at a southern institution. She is a nerd, a geek, and also a dork. And yes, that really is her brain.
NotoriousLTP is an MD-PhD student in New York City. After finishing (hopefully soon) his PhD in behavioral neuroscience, he will re-enter the fun vortex that is medical education.
I'll admit, life's been crazy around here. Barely enough time to check the blogs what with prepping for ScienceOnline '09 (Everyone come to my Blogging on the History of Science panel!), prepping everything in the lab so the lab continues to run while I'm AT ScienceOnline '09, and keeping the hot science running on a day-to-day basis. But there has been some GREAT stuff around the past few days:
A rundown of the stuff behind the cut:
1) I've never read Darwin.
2) Drugmonkey rocks my socks.
3) Mo at Neurophilosophy needs a hug.
4) Love is BAD. Stay away from it. It's the new sexually transmitted disease.
5) JLK and cognitive neuroscience.
6) drdrA teaches Sci to write a decent sentence. She will boldly split infinitives that have never been split before.

1) I know I told everyone about the new blog The Culture Dish (who, by the way, has a great article up on New Year's Resolutions, and is going to speak at ScienceOnline! I am totally there). Turns out there's ANOTHER new one! This one is called Blogging the Origin, and is focusing on a professional science writer reading "On the Origin of Species". I admire this guy, cause you know what? I've never read it either. Bad Sci! Bad!! I think I should put it on my reading list this year. I do have a copy, no geek library would be complete without one. And it'd be a good year to read it, certainly. I'll see what I can do.
2) I love the Drugmonkey blog. Great professional advice, and always able to cover, and argue really well, the difficult topics. Like Ecstasy, and ADHD. I particularly agree with the latest article on ADHD. It's definitely a real diagnosis, but it's also one that may be taken advantage of by people seeking cognitive enhancement, or just more time on tests for their child (or for themselves. We used to joke they should just hand grad students a free supply of Adderall, an unlimited Starbucks card, and some Valium when they walk in for orientation).
3) Neurophilosophy has done it again, with an awesome post on the evolution of manual dexterity. I really hope he's coming to ScienceOnline so I can hug him.
4) Bioephemera has a great post up which tears down some of the latest stuff decribing love as a cocktail of insanity. Love, the newest sexually transmitted disease.
5) JLK has an excellent analysis (a few days old, I know) on cognitive neuroscience.
6) Finally, drdrA over at Blue Lab Coats has a series of awesomeness going up on how to write decent sentences. Sci needs this badly. She also just picked up a copy of "Eats, Shoots, and Leaves" which she is now carrying around with her EVERYWHERE in the hopes that she will find time to read it. Someday, I will write a beautifully well-turned sentence.
