The Homunculus

steveSteve Higgins is a psychology graduate student at an online university. He hopes that the three weeks and $29.95 that he is spending on his Ph.D. will get him a job at a Tier 1 research university. Do online universities have postdocs? Ok...just kidding, Steve is a real graduate student at a real school.

Everything has been resolved and permission for use has clearly been granted to Shelley! But one thing has come to our attention - some of you naughty naughty people have been harassing the staff member who sent the original email. Shame on you! Poor girl is just doing her job! You should all send apologies!

This is just the sort of reason we're stoked to have the EFF, or Electronic Freedom Foundation, as guardians of online liberty. They do great work fighting US legal battles with companies who bully users, while the adage "information wants to be free" still echoes through the years. Every blogger owes a bit of their freedom to the EFF. They need your support, too. Donate to help fight old media bullies like the academic science press.

Nice post, Sandra!

How long do you think it will take for Wiley to come after you and your illustration?

Glad you like it, and even more glad it's worked out.

I was hoping Wiley would notice this illustration, as it demonstrates a bunch of key principles involved in fair usage. Criticism, review, relevance, illustrating points, etc.
