The Homunculus

steve_icon_medium.jpgThe Omnibrain is a psychology graduate student at an online university. He hopes that the three weeks and $29.95 that he is spending on his Ph.D. will get him a job at a Tier 1 research university. Do online universities have postdocs? Ok...just kidding, The Omnibrain is a real graduate student at a real school somewhere in the continental United States - or maybe Europe.

Suicide Memorial Cookbook

Category: Mental Health
Posted on: September 12, 2007 8:00 AM, by Sandra Kiume

cobainmemorial.jpg Check out this memorial cookbook compiled by survivors of suicide. It's a lovely resource to share in times of distress: memories, poetry and support along with recipes for comforting food.

"Each victim of suicide gives his act a personal stamp which expresses his temperament the special conditions in which he is involved, and which, cannot be explained by the social and general causes of the phenomenon." --Emile Durkheim

Hi,

I am a suicide surviver - meaning my attempt was not successful. Now I am very glad that I was a failure in both of my attempts. My attempts happened as I looked for relief from the ravages of Bipolar Disorder. I was incorrectly diagnosed with Unipolar Depression and treated with an SSRI which in turn made my Bipolar symptoms even worse. Can I contribute to your cookbook or at a minimum purchase a copy? Please let me know. I would like you to understand how much this touches me and how important your efforts are to me and to others who have mental illnesses. Thank you.

Hi - That's great, I'm glad this is of interest to you. I'm not the one who put together the cookbook, so to find out how to make a contribution please click the link and visit the site of the people who do.
