Hard to believe, but check out the source this anti-choicer uses to back up his essay on the callous horror of abortion.
Satire and irony are now officially dead.
The author has a new post up—he still doesn't get it. He's still babbling about the fictional author of the Onion piece getting all those abortions.
It's a marvel. There really are people that stupid out there.

I can't for the life of me understand how this person could read that and think it was real? The outlandish commentary by the writer in question who treated having an abortion like having your sweet sixteen birthday party was way over the top. Of course the commentary style was meant as sarcasm but this website guy 'Pete' clearly thinks thats how liberals really feal about abortion? That they truly do behave that way? Are they so totally out of touch with humanity?

Ah, but you have to take into consideration the writings of Anne Coulter, which are pretty much written in the same style as the Onion article (or so I surmise*) but are meant to be taken at face value.
Unless, Coulter's writing IS actually satire and the Far Right Wingalings are silently snickering at all of us... Nah!
*I'm not getting anywhere near any of Coulter's books. Thanks for the warnings!

I face anti-abortion protesters weekly at a Planned Parenthood clinic and can attest they are humorless, live in a black and white world, and view anyone who disgrees with them as grotesque caricatures of reality. Making conversation with such wing nuts is impossible--and I've tried, many times.
Given their religious beliefs anyone who doesn't agree with them is demonic and a servant of satan. I know because I've been told that to my face countless times. I've heard it so often that I often check to be sure I haven't grown horns or a forked tail.

I like to think if all the anti-choice people were at his level, then women in places like South Dakota would have much less to worry about.
But somehow I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Pete is the rule, rather than the exception.

While I was reading the comments another few were added, bringing him up into the 90's .... perhaps he will be proud of the *number* of replies rather than what they say.
Fancy picking a story that old, anyway.
Looking at some of the previous posts on the "March Together" site, none of them had more than a few comments. Most had just one or two comments, if any, so it is quite possible that he has *no idea* yet that so many replies have been made, nor what the replies are saying. You'll have to keep a watch on this site to see if the article and the comments (great reading!) stay up or not. Internet Fame at last!

Please forgive me for following up on my own comment.
I remember Ellen Makkai with a perverse fondness, from when her derailed columns appeared regularly in the Denver Post.
Just to refresh, I checked the WorldNut Daily's archived copy of her article, and found that it had ben cleansed of any credulous quoting of the Onion. I then went to the Wayback Machine, and found that their archive of the day in question was OK for the front page, but that the commentary section also linked to an updated version in which Oceania had always been at war with Eurasia. Not to be so easily deflected, I then Googled all over until I found Ellen's sweet, sweet vacuity preserved in the original.
Now, when the WND goes to that amount of trouble to expunge all evidence that one of their own was such a fatuous chump, it tells you a lot.

Wow.
I didn't bother to read the first post (even though I did scroll through the 100+ comments, and I started to think that the piling on was a tad unnecessary until...), but I read the follow-up. Wow. Look at how the guy uses the word "blog". Look at his last sentence. "Thick as a brick" doesn't begin to describe it.
Perhaps I'm just blinded to these folks' nature because I grew up surrounded by satire (the whole "ironic" '90s, anyone remember that?). Ford Prefect had to learn what sarcasm was, I guess the same goes for these folks with satire and irony and other higher brain functions (including embarrassment, perhaps).

When I checked out the link above, I was surprised that the entry hadn't been removed after "Pete's" error was pointed out. Was he not checking his blog?
Or perhaps he simply wants to believe that the Onion article really is true because he not only chose to dismiss what the "opposition" is telling him, but it fits his beliefs about pro-choicers? (Kind of like how the creationists think that by repeating tales about lack of transitional fossils and so forth, it will become accepted fact).

This simply reveals the biggest fault in and problem with the forced breeding agenda. His (apparently honest) belief that anyone pro-choice celebrates abortions, or murder would make him especially vulnerable to falling for the Onion article.
This guy is either a total moron or (or possibly "and") so blinded by his need to be morally superior that he truly believed the Onion article was indicative of a woman seeking an abortion and the pro-choice movement as a whole.
I had to thank him for making me laugh. Usually, forced breeding agenda mysogynists make me mad. This one, hilarious!

Watch out for those "Genocide Awareness Project" people - their specialty is setting up huge displays (also on trucks & airplane banners; all over the US) of grisly photos of Klan lynchings, Holocaust death camps, and abortion remnants, attempting to establish these as all the same.
They're in it entirely for the shock value: no amount of argument or pleading from African-American or Jewish community leaders has ever made them reconsider this exploitation of a heritage they can't claim; no complaints from outraged parents get them to move their show away from schoolchildren's view.
Needless to say, the debates they stage are also rigged (typically, under their other name of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform, they try to get university faculty to sign up beforehand without even mentioning their displays). Not surprisingly, their head honcho, Gregg Cunningham, is a former Republican state legislator from Pennsylvania.
The only time I've heard of anyone setting them back even slightly was when a friend of mine challenged them about the lack of pictures of Darfur, etc: raising awareness about actual on-going genocide is not part of the agenda of the Genocide Awareness Project.

There have been over 80,000 hits to his blog in just a day or so, and about 1500 comments to the three entries he has made in this regard. (e.g. "ROTFLMAO! what else is there to say. oh shit, I just laughed my small intestines out!")
So there you go, PZ - if you want to increase your traffic and get *lots* of comments, just cite The Onion as fact!
