It's not every day that one of the Istari gets tenure.
Say, did anyone mention to his review committee that he's an immortal? This is going to wreak havoc with the college's finances once he has accumulated some more seniority.

Well, they probably know not to meddle in the affairs of wizards.

If his salary increases at 3% per year, eventually the college will run a deficit comparable to that of the federal government. Maybe they can sell bonds to China.

Nice. Not too many people other than us LOTR fanatics know of Radagast the Brown, the unknown wizard. People know even less of Alatar and Pallando, the blue wizards.

...for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.
Wait, that's dragons.

Since this seems to be a post for us nerds, you may want to check the last issue of The Sensational Spider-Man (#28). Apart from a infortunate reference to G.. the main character looks surprisingly like a young PZ: "Whenever a television show about octopi, squid, cuttlefish or some other mollusk came on P.S.B. or the discovery channel, Jordan would sit and watch..." Then there is a confrontation with Doc Octopus...
Need I say more?

Sadly, they already had a plan in place to deal with immortal professors. Our salary schedule only includes raises for the first 25 or so years of experience; after that it's all one pay rate (that just increases with the cost of living).
Now if I could just get our union to renegotiate that clause of the contract ...

Congrats, Radagast!
Tenure is long overdue. Your body of work in the the Third Age of Middle Earth speaks for itself.

Graculus: I thought that we went well with brie, not ketchup. Goes with the general snootiness of dragons ...
And I believe the saying is "do not meddle in the affairs of wizards, for they are subtle and quick to anger", as said both by Gandalf and Elric the Technomage.
