For more metaphorical execution of the ghastly Mr Wells and his dumb little book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Darwinism and Intelligent Design, my article on chapter 3 is now available at the Panda's Thumb, and if you want something fresh, Burt Humburg tackles the internal contradictions and fuzzy thinking of Wells' theology. Not that I would ever imply that there is a theology that isn't fuzzy and contradictory, but Wells seems to have bunged up the job particularly well.

If you make the obvious susbstitution of "Ridiculously" for "Politically", the acronym becomes RIGDID.
Which seems somehow appropriate.

Thanks for the post PZ, I am now much better prepared for creationist criticisms of evolution that use embryology. The point about deliberate confusion of early and late stages of development was particularly good.

That was a fantastic review on Panda's Thumb. Thanks for writing such a clear explanation of Wells' tricks and what's actually going on during the stages of embryo development.
