This week in our regular collection of reader-submitted cephaloweirdness, the theme is "domesticity".
Maybe you're the kind of person who doesn't have ordinary garden gnomes…
…and the iron work around your house has a theme…
…and you see this and think "AwwOOOOOOO!!! Hubba hubba!"
You know what's next, right?
And then you work and slave to get them the nicest toys…
…and a healthy diet so they grow big and strong…
…and next thing you know, their teenage buddies are all hanging about the house, making a mess of the place.
I'm just relieved there aren't any grandkids yet. Just think what they will look like.

HA! I love it, a Beatles song brought to life... that reminded me that I once did a really bad version of this for the "Garden" competition of the Internet Ray-Tracing Competition
This one is glaring a little too frowningly, perhaps anemones are the undersea equivalent of crabgrass for this gardener...

I love the new style with the zebrafish embryo- and cephalopod icons. Very tasteful. But why do I see them only in IE7? In Firefox I get this blue bar with embryos(?) that look a bit like soapbells.

The only change is to the css file. Sometimes browsers have a cached local copy of that file -- try reloading.

Could you lighten the new pharyngula image a bit more, perhaps twice as much as it is? Text on top of images, especially when the text is thin and grey like the byline on the posts, is not so much tasteful as it is difficult to read. If the image is going to be on every post, there's no reason for it not to be as subtle as possible without reaching homeopathic pixel levels.
And while I'm bitching on this subject... the Gumbys in your stupid-people-blockquotes are cute but they also make those quotes difficult to read, especially since they're set to stay fixed when scrolling (unless it's your intention to dissuade people from reading those, then carry on).

Have no fear, it's a work in progress, and it's trivial to change (everything is in css). I haven't yet examined the look on a pc, and I know they tend to be too dark there -- so there will be little tweaks in the near future.
