It may be that brain hardware has co-evolved with the internal virtual worlds that it creates. This can be called hardware-software co-evolution.

Even the webcomics are making fun of him. Click on the panel to read the rest—it's pretty good. It also points out why we shouldn't be displeased that he's been imprisoned: one of his 'accomplishments' has always been to make the scientific and rational thinkers of all ages feel ostracized by an ignorant majority. He's a sad little man, but he's also done a lot of evil.

Is the IRS/Hovind fish available for sale? Where?

I'm with Ed!

I want "IRS fish eats Hovind fish" bumper stickers, T-shirts and coffee mugs!

From "Seed: Dirty Little Secret":

A recent essay by Ioannidis simply entitled "Why most published research findings are false" has been downloaded more than 100,000 times; the Boston Globe called it "an instant cult classic."

I have been unable to find comment on this misleading story on any Scienceblogs blog. How curious.

Not that I'm implying that a virtuous publication like Seed would in any way provide support to the forces of irrationality, or that the Scienceblogs bloggers would sit idly by while their hosts propagate enormities. I'm sure I just overlooked the outrage.

I'm still not able to feel any pity for Hovind whatsoever. In accordance with your fine American tradition, he should have been rolled in tar and feather a long time a go, like any other dishonest snake oil monger. If you pardon the teleology-implying wording: the man had it coming for him, in more than one way.

Oh, and by the way - the young man in the true story behind the web comic did show some rather tremendeous courage.

What an utter scumbag.

Ioannidis did the cause of science terrible, terrible damage by writing that article.

Mr. G-- Denialism blog has commentary on the article you refer to.

Regarding the cartoon-- Did Hovind really do that?? Did he ask kids to stand up if they still believed in evolution like that?

Off Topic, sort of.

ON THIS DAY: On May 25, 1925, John T. Scopes was indicted in Tennessee for teaching Darwin's theory of evolution.

Great comic, I'm gonna have to show it to some friends.

Off topic, I should point out that at the moment Pharyngula is getting its posterior kicked by the wags at "Sadly, No!" in the category of best Non-European weblog here.

To quote Vezzini in Princess Bride, "Starting wars is an an old profession, with a long and honorable tradition." :)

Thanks, ERV. I'll take it over there.

Hehe. I know the comic's author.

That's what he said.

ERV, I wasn't there, so I don't know...but at the last Hovind talk I went to, that was part of his schtick, to ask the audience to raise their hands if they believed in evolution (yes, I raised mine). He also specifically asked 'easy' creationist questions of little kids in the audience, and praised them if they agreed with him.

The official Free Kent Hovind petition is now open for signatures. Let see if they can top my Keep Hovind in jail petition of over 1,100 signatures. Not that it really matters.

10 years in prison, for something like a 650,000 rip off, when CEO's who have taken millions and millions from pension plans or tax evaders like Leona Helmsly do less time.

There is something more going on here than just punishment for tax evasion.

I like the dinosaurs that guy draws.

I also like the TRUTH fish getting eaten by the HOVIND fish in the oldest of the "recent posts"...

Funny. I automatically start my posts with a blockquote tag. :-D

Like his flagrant disregard for the law and his complete lack of contrition?

Hi, I'm the creator of these comics. (And also the narrator in the newest episode.) Thanks for linking to them here--my site's traffic increased by about eight times on the day that you did.

This is the second time I've seen people asking for a Hovind and IRS fish bumper sticker, so I finally went ahead and made one: http://www.cafepress.com/captain_occam . If these things end up being popular, I might eventually introduce some other merchandise there also.
