I got 75% scientific atheist and only 50% theist. It seems saying you're a member of an organized religion doesn't outweigh seeing Kent Hovind and Jason Gastrich as idiots.

Willing to take theists to task, the Militant Atheist is someone who knows deep within themselves that there is no god and they want to tell you all about how they know. Even though they're as annoying in their own way as militant theists, this is often a phase of development and doesn't tend to last very long. If it does, they're in danger of becoming an Angry Atheist and making everyone uncomfortable.

My guess is that it's a person who doesn't believe there's a god, but even if there were a god it wouldn't really change things for them. Before I became a full-fledged atheist (thanks in large part to you, PZ) that was more or less my thoughts on the matter: God doesn't appear to be affecting my life any, so even if it exists, what does it matter?

Hee! I was not thinking that in this context "spiritual" meant "belief in spirits" so much as belief that not all phenomena can be defined by science; Noam Chomsky calls such wonderments that elude the grasp of our cognitive abilities "mysteries" (as distinguished from "problems," which fall within the purview of rational inquiry).
But yes, you're right, "spiritual atheist" is a ridiculous term. But then I don't really care what category my viewpoint might fall under--I just like taking quizzes! :-)

The strangely high "spiritual" and "theist" parts may depend on the fact that I had to answer in the middle for Jason Gastrich. No idea who that is. Spiritual? I'm not spiritual. "Beauty in nature" is not something spiritual.
Interestingly, if you add the "Agnostic" and "Apathetic Atheist" scores, you reach 100 %, and indeed, like Salad Is Slaughter (# 11), I'm an Apathetic Agnostic... :o)

Think the 17% comes from answering in the positive for things like "spiritual" or in a neutral for some things that would be more accurate if they had a scale of like 0 to 10, where I would have said 2, in favor of the atheist side. This is why I hate these things sometimes. They make you respond maybe, when you mean almost certainly yes or damn near entirely no, but you don't want to be dishonest and just answer yes or no for them.

Interesting. HARD core Scientific/Militant, followed by... spirituality? I guess you could call it 'wonderment at nature's beauty'. I scored rather higher on the 'angry' part than I would've liked though.

This quiz is flawed. The phrasing of the questions is far too ambiguous in several cases, and any quiz that says I'm 25% theist is dead wrong, not to mention insulting.

Since other people were asking about it, I tried playing for the Apathetic Atheist result and this is what I got.

Meh... whatever. Apathetic Atheists tend towards disbelief because believing takes more work. These are the people who won't argue religion, even if a total nutjob confronts them because arguing just seems like a waste of time they could spend doing something else.

Ah! Some of the coolest people in the world are Spiritual Atheists. Most of them weren't brought up in an organized religion and have very little baggage. They concentrate on making the world a better place and know that death is just another part of life. What comes after, comes after.
I'm not surprised to still score highly as apathetic and also agnostic, but I I thought I'd put in a stronger showing for scientific. And I don't think of myself as spiritual.

I just posted a quick statistical breakdown of everyone's answers over on my blog, PseudoRandom Quanta. Also, I came up with the nifty idea of a rationality score.
Formula:
R= AVG(Agnostic, Militant, Scientific) / AVG(Angry, Spiritual, Theist)
That should give you a pretty good junk science indication of your rationality/irrationality ratio.

Considering the test's evident bias I shan't be taking it. looks like some answers get interpreted in a way that contradict other answers, when really, the answer to the question "Do you believe in a God or other divine agency?" should guide how the answers to other questions are interpreted.

Sheesh, I must be lucky, because I'm not even a scientist and got a 100% Scientific Atheist ;-)
I'm guessing that my Militant Atheist score is a dim reflection of my 60s political activist youth.
But about the Angry Atheist, I wasn't angry till I saw that I got a Theist score above 0%. Is that because I said that if there was proof of god I might belive? I mean, yeah, prove it, and that's a mighty big if, and I can't imagine anything that I would accept as proof. Plus, my idea of a god is that, if one could possibly exist, it would be a natural entity, not a supernatural one.
Ah, well: apathy has its advantages.

Think of these percentages as the likelihood that you would respond in a given way to a discussion of religion. If you score highest on Angry or militant you might be more likely to reply "colorfully," while those who score highest on "scientific atheist" would be most likely to use a more materialistic, empirical response. Assuming, of course, that the quiz gives valid results. Based on my high "spiritual atheist" number, I'm not so sure.
