We need to get the NCSE's counter-site to the hideous little propaganda film, Expelled, to rank higher in the search engines. The way to do this is for lots and lots of you to link to the Expelled Exposed site with the word Expelled. It's not hard: just copy this code into a blog post.
<a href="http://expelledexposed.com/"><i>Expelled</i></a>Whenever you write about the movie, use that link. Do it a bunch of times, if you want. It's more effective if many people use the same link every time, though, than for one person to be repetitive.

Actually, I don't know why we don't just suppress everything about ID and Expelled. We have the courts, the media, and education all on the side of suppression, so I can't help but think our Inquisitors are simply a bunch of hopeless slackasses.

I wish there was more science on the site. It would be nice if there was a big "Evidence for Evolution" link. Let's all hope that Expelled is a miserable failure.

So how do you post the raw HTML so it doesn't render like this:
Expelled?
What's the trick?
Posted by: James F | April 14, 2008 5:21 PM
By your command.
Posted by: Dan B. | April 14, 2008 5:23 PM
To those lamenting the lack of info on the site: They say at the top that they will be posting a full review on April 15. I assume (and hope) it will become more informative and complete at that time.
Posted by: DavidONE | April 14, 2008 5:24 PM
PZ,
Not good advice. Thousands of people linking to a website with identical text will very likely trigger a 'Google bomb' flag and have the very opposite effect that is hoped for.
Much better that people link with a variety of linking text.

I think you might appreciate this webcomic, today's Overcompensating by Jeffrey Rowland:

I seem to have led a privileged life. I've never seen Ben Stein on TV, movies etc other than the stills relating to what is clearly a ridiculous film. Eugenie Scott? The famous, beautiful anthropologist who sticks it to people like Stein, first heard of her years ago! Thanks to her for Expelled Exposed.

Alex,
You need to use HTML entities
http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/charset.html#h-5.3.2
Posted by: David Marjanović, OM | April 14, 2008 5:32 PM
Go to the main page and scroll down a little.
Use the HTML codes instead of < and >. < is & l t ; without the spaces, and > is & g t ;. (Short for "less than" and "greater than".)
Posted by: IConrad | April 14, 2008 5:32 PM
Alex -- There are a few ways. One is to use the "XML" tag. (as opposed to the "a" or "i" etcetera tags).
Expelled.
Another is to convert the html-encoding characters to their html-character equivalents in your page's raw code. ( This site is a conversion tool.)
<a href="http://expelledexposed.com/"><i>Expelled</i></a>
Hopefully that helps. :)

I believe using the "nofollow" attribute on links, as scienceblogs does automatically, will cause Googlebot to ignore that link. So we can link to Expelled!'s own site without helping their pagerank.

Pharyngulites, a corollary to my #22 post above:

Posted by: Amplexus | April 14, 2008 5:48 PM
Ben Stein's three claims to fame are:
1.A 2 minute role as a teacher in a film 25 years ago
2.Being a speech writer for the worst president ever (and yes I'm counting W.Bush and U.S. grant)
3. A game show on comedy central
And now this nifty travesty Expelled

Why not just wait until April 20th, when the nation's film critics cause the film's website to rank higher with the search terms "content-free ass-headed wankfest" than with the word "expelled".
Posted by: Mark Witt | April 14, 2008 5:57 PM
It is the Evolutionist's cowardly fears of the TRUTH that makes this moment so delectable. Ben Stein is a Rock! HIS strength brings the Unbelievers' lies into the light. May God bless, B.S.!
All atheistic attacks against Ben Stein and Expelled - a humble man with Ein stein's intellect adrift in a modern world of sin - are artless hacks.
Copyright infringement is such a weak case. Who - after all - designed the cell? Who gave Harvard permission to copy the cell's design and to put it on video? Did they pray over it? Were one to start on PAGE ONE, eventually one would understand. No copyrights apply to HIS works.
A Google bomb? Is that the best the vaunted avenger of atheism can mount? (If only Jesus were his sidekick...)
Rush Limbaugh continually advertises for the movie. PZ Myers - sir, you are no Rush Limbaugh!! What good is a google bomb against the towering intellect of Rush Limbaugh? He could defeat any of the weak arguments of Neo-Darwinian Post-Objectified Evolutionism with half his brain firmly tied behind his back.
The TRUTH is on the side of the Righteous, but it is not too late to see the light! God is LOVE. One can still accept JESUS Christ - it is not too late to abandon the selfish willfulness of intellect and desire.
Peace to you.

This is an excellent idea. however, from a Search Engnine optimization perspective these people need to make http://expelledexposed.com/ 301 redirect to http://www.expelledexposed.com/ or vice versa. if you have the www and non-www version splitting the inbound links you will dilute the quality of these inbound links. if you make one version 301 redirect to the other, all links pointing to either version will stack up and count towards a single ranking.

"..."I never imagined the expelled idiots could be this unethical."
I think it's time that everyone to stop being so surprised by those who wave their "belief flags" being deceitful and manipulative. Their overwhelming confidence that their beliefs are right gives them all the authority they need to break every one of their precious ten commandments. They are mindless zombies without compassion or empathy who will stop at nothing to attack those who question the reality of their pathetic world-view.
"There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting. But he dare not face this thought! Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not real, he becomes furious when they are disputed." [Bertrand Russell, "Human Society in Ethics and Politics"]

"I have a tiny worrisome feeling that there could a creationist or, good Richard, maybe even two, in Finland, but it's hard to say since here religion is a bit like syphilis: If you got it, you don't flaunt it. Except in your support group, I guess."

The NCSE *is* big science?
That explains a lot, they seem to have a particular hatred for the NCSE, they pre-expelled Barbara Forrest from seeing the movie as well. I guess PZ, Dawkins and other contenders can stop pretending, the creationists have found the true leader of the Darwinist conspiracy! They must've been pretty flippin' upset when they found out they couldn't send Ben Stein around for another interview because she found out that Mark Mathis was being dishonest.
I guess they are still hurting from Barbara's role in the Dover case, apparently their main argument for questioning that case nowadays is another Discovery institute lie (something about 92% of the decision being copied from the ACLU (lie #1) and pretending that this would be a abnormal or a bad thing (lie #2)).

Um... Don't the links put here in the comments have some sort of google code that prevents it from indexing that link... something along the lines of rel="nofollow"...
So linking from the comments here doesn't do anything to get expelledexposed any additional exposure. I think we're supposed to be adding that link on our own web sites. Mine has had the link for a couple of weeks - for all the good it does since google probably doesn't index my site (I do a vanity search now and again - my page doesn't come up, yet - though I have put it in the submissions queue).

When you link on to the Scientific American site panning that crap movie, there is a picture of the retard Stein standing in front of his better, the great Charles Darwin. I dont't like this. That sleazeball cretin is not worthy to stand, let alone look at the great man. He isn't even worthy to stand in front of a pile of shit, let alone to swim in it. Can we find a more contemptible insane cretin than this subhuman?

Also, giving the link it's full title "Expelled Exposed" should rank it up for the keyword "expelled" and "exposed", and hopefully avoid the Google bomb detector going off :P

I thought everyone realised Mark Witt was Swiftian-esque from several threads ago. He is very dry, nothing but "nudge, nudge, wink, wink". Clever stuff if you aren't overly reactionary or more partial to broader humor. It's hard to parody Creobots with a straight face, but Mark seems to have his tongue planted firmly in his cheek.

I have to agree, though, with the suggestions that the Expelled Exposed site could be much more welcoming to visitors - many of whom, especially if this link campaign has effect, will simply be looking for info on the movie and may know nothing of the hubbub over it.
It'd be great to see the Expelled Exposed site lead off with a big, clear statement: "Here's what the Expelled movie claims, here's why it's outrageously wrong, and here's why you should join us in protesting it. See links below for much more info." Short and sweet.

The type of buzz "Expelled" has encountered, more than likely it will be a success in the documentary realm. The long awaited excitement of this film comes out this Friday...Well perhaps not to evolutionists...lol I'm waiting in excitement for NASA's Messenger spacecraft, which is due to fly past Mercury next January which should give more detail about the planet. The 30 year mystery question for evolutionists, How does the solar system's innermost planet maintain a magnetic field?

Pic will be a "probable punching bag for film critics and evolution proponents alike".
And this reviewer says, "an animated illustration of the inner workings of a cell offers a striking visual argument in favor of "irreducible complexity"." I wonder if he openly wept at the site of that piece of stolen animation.

I might not mind this ID movie so much were it not for glaring omissions in what is now widely believed to be true about ID. Many who have studied ID and believe it to be true, also believe that the Designer got bored toward the end. At that point, the design aspect kind of went out the window. In fact, it is a widely held belief that the Designer just kind of pulled e-coli out of her ass.
Count me in.

You blogger types may want to look into Vote Links (my friend Jeremy uses Richard Dawkins and the Institute of Creation Research as resources you may wish to vote for and against respectively). If you use rel="nofollow", you can tell Google to not use your reference in calculating the worth of a page - and if you add rev="vote-against", you are telling Vote Links parsers that the linked resource is not good.
