Galápagos Album: Iguana swarm

So maybe that’s not pretty enough. Here’s a corrective: it’s also Mary’s birthday today, so congratulate her on putting up with me for so long!

PZ, this has probably been asked and answered, so you can be annoyed with me if you want. But I’ll ask anyway.

What kind of camera do you use?

I just got an Olympus E-410 and a couple zoom lenses.

    Me very pleased.

And happy birthday, Mary. At my request, I was able to spend #50 in Yellowstone. It’s great to be able to spend milestone birthdays in unusual places… It was my first trip there.

    Happy Birthday Mary!

Mine, too, and Bill O’Reilly, and Joe Perry, and my favorite – Charles Kuralt (who actually won a Peabody award):

“I think liberalism lives — the notion that we don’t have to stay where we are as a society, we have promises to keep, and it is liberalism, whether people like it or not, which has animated all the years of my life. What on Earth did conservatism ever accomplish for our country? It was people who wanted to change things for the better.”

    In response to JohnA #11:

George Bernard Shaw put it best (as usual) when he said:

“A reasonable man adapts himself to suit his environment.
An unreasonable man adapts his environment to suit himself.

Therefore, all progress depends on unreasonable men.”

We therefore have a duty to keep being unreasonable. That’s why I support PZ. Happy Birthday Mary. I hope we get a blog post from yourself some time.

Of course, I use ‘unreasonable’ in the sense of what society at large sees as unreasonable. I do know that PZ is (and most people on this blog) are on the side of reason. Just thought I’d better clear that up, in case I am subject to unreasonable criticism :-)

Quite a bit of sexism and arrogance to assume that your wife was only born once she began to put up with you!

    Happy Birthday Mary

May your husband treat you with dinner, dancing and plenty of carats.

I told Mr Shrek on my birthday I wanted something with at least two carats in it and the bugger gave me a plastic bag filled with carrots. Mind you on our first anniversary, being the traditional “paper” one, I gave him a six pack of bog rolls so I guess I deserved it.

Happy Birthday to a fellow-Virgo. You are very lucky to have a Virgo in your life, PZ; we are the best at pointing out others’ faults (and our own, though we don’t like anybody else to do that.)

    Best wishes, Mary.

(Not that wishes are worth shit, but it’s the thought that counts.)
(Not that my thoughts can affect anything outside my self.)
(Not that my self is any thing, but perhaps an emergent property of my wetware.)

    Anyway, “happy birthday!”, you grok?

Happy birthday, Mary. For putting up with PZ for so long, you must have the patience of a saint.

Hail Mary, full of birthday cake,

    Blessed is your union
But not blessed is the cracker.
