It was the sick and dying who despised the body and the earth and invented the things of heaven and the redeeming drops of blood: but even these sweet and dismal poisons they took from the body and the earth!

So, this is what the religious right is afraid will happen if we let cephalopods gay-marry, right?

Sorta. They tend to make slippery slope arguments that culminate in "Well, why don't we just let gays cephalopod-marry then?"

That's about when it's time to stop talking and time to start inking.

Hurrr... So where are the creationistas today? Shouldn't they be posting long missives about how species don't exist, only 'kinds', that the blue one isn't another kind, just fat, and, furthermore, these cephalopods aren't fucking, they're comforting each other in a non-sexual way?

Uh, pedant point: bestiality is sex between humans and animals.

Like this painting of PZ and the Trophy Wife. btw: which one of the Trophy Kids is glomming onto mommy's face?

Ya know, I've always found it puzzling that in many species the female is so much larger thatn the male. Except for primates, humans especially so.

Strange.

There are lots of critters where the male is larger (cats, buffalo, goats, horses, etc).

Generally, where there is a size difference between the sexes, it indicates that the larger gender is in competition for the smaller gender, and that the larger will normally have multiple mates (the larger the difference, the more mates).

Add to the list of larger males: pinnepeds. There is a huge difference in sea elephants.

Is it just me or does it look like the female as her beak open and deployed ready to bite off a tentacle?

Man, that's one of those things that's hard to look at.

Given the number of Discworld fans here, I'm surprised no one has likened this to Errol the swamp dragon courting the Draco Nobilis.

Some little guys have big ambitions.

Is this kind of sex between female octopus and a Vulcan octopus viable? If so, the son must be named Spocktopus.
