Oops.

You copied the link to the page, instead of the direct link to the image.

If you tell me which image you wanted, I can give you the right link.

I *think* this is the one you are after?

If it's this one (below) just use the link above, and that should be the right size and all:

...for those looking for the rest of the octo shots, they are here:

Haha! I thought for sure nothing new since last i stopped by around 10, while i was at work. Just came back to snatch the butter picture...and look! Thanks PZ! That kitty business was such a downer.

Oh, that sultry sexy eye . . .

#5

Here in Hawaii there are hours left of Friday.

I think I saw a sexy, camera-type eye like that just this afternoon.

PZ,
This does not qualify as my unicorn chaser, and I continue to demand it. However, that animal is quite magnificent! I have some pictures from the Monterey Bay Aquarium of an octopus who, to my eye, resembles that one - though of course I'm no expert and they may be vastly different.

Last time someone gave me the "eye" like that I married him. Poor bastard.

Ichthy,

If you're following this thread I'll send you an email shortly. Want to try and catch up in the next few months in NZ. You're shouting the beers...and I can drink a lot!

Friday, eh? In some places it's still 1926.

Hell, there are areas that have yet to enter the Common Era.

Here in Hawaii...

Yup. I hate you. Hate. You.

Derdesh, I can absorb some of the ire from SC as I too am in Hawaii. Spread the envy-mitigate it a bit? :)

Hmmmm - it looks old. And there's one of it. Coïncidence?

Doesn't work like that, I'm afraid. Like with love, my capacity for envy is infinite. I have more than enough for the entire population of that state.

Oh - hate you, too. :)

Greetings From Queen Creek, PZ! The state feels a lot more rational since you arrived. Please stay.

Are there any cephalopods - of any sort - at all - in Arizona? For that matter, are there even any saltwater aquaria in Arizona? It does not seem that the Arid Zone would be a hotbed of cephalopod activy.

PZ:

Friday Cephalopod: It's still Friday in Arizona!

One wonderful Friday morning Santa started his workshop rotating at the rate of 15 degrees per hour. By the time clocks had advanced an hour in one time zone, Santa would be in the next, setting his clock back the hour. Ever since that day, it's always been Friday at Santa's workshop. Unfortunately for the Elves, the weekend never comes, and they must work continuously.

Other than the Spiny Desert Cuttleworm, you mean?

Is it still Friday in Arizona? Damn. Then it must still be Thursday here in California.

Anyone need some coffee to wake up? I have a heaping helping of special coffee right here. Yes, it's anti-gay, pro-life, Christian coffee. (Not available in stores.)

Is that on your shopping list? Not mine!

Should have a place for you to stay over in Welly too, if u need.

Funny story goes with this pic. Took the GF out tidepooling a couple weeks back, when we found this critter. Well, technically it found me, as it grabbed my ankle while it was out hunting.

Had to show the GF, so I scooped it up and brought it to her so she could hold it.

Don't know if any others out there recall their first time handling an octo, but they are a bit tricky to hold onto. Like holding a pile of jelly with a will of its own.

So, it slipped out of her hands, and I leaped forward to catch it before it hit the rocks.

Of course, I was the one that ended up hitting the rocks instead, and as I stood up, bloodied from head to toe, she asks:

"Is the octopus OK?"

PZ,

Since you're in Arizona...

Why does Arizona not have daylight savings time?

Because it's easier than teaching Zonies how to adjust their watches and clocks.
