Today is 10 September, which happens to be the birthday of the Trophy Wife (I won't tell you the birth year because she will give me the evil eye, but I will say that she is much, much younger than I am, as a Trophy Wife must be). It would be very nice if she got home from work tonight and, as she usually does, sits down and checks out the blog to see what horrors and outrages I have perpetrated today, and discovers that a few of you had written her birthday best wishes, instead.

PZ is wise not to spill the beans about her actual age (which must be much, much less than his). Asking for actual age information can only lead to trouble!

Assuming you don't find birthday wishes from complete strangers creepy, please accept my humble wishes for an excellent and pleasurable annual celebration of your existence.

Also, may Cthulhu eat you last, and may he wait 'til after the cake.

I was raised in a tightly controlled independent-baptist environment, and therefore, the majority of my adulthood has been spent picking over the philosophical pecadillos that I can use amongst the morass of a mysoginistic worldview. One idea that I did find myself unable to shake is that in the family, each member reflects one another; a daughter speaks of her parents as a husband speaks of his wife.
To stand in the midst of such a dazzling array of reflected glory and to be unmoved, to not feel the need to trumpet or to emphasise speaks greatly for you, Ms Wife Of PZ. It is strange that for a person about whom I know so much, there can be so much to admire.
I wish you a happy birthday, and would that I could convey such things as well as they seem in my head.

There isn't very much in life
That's better than a trophy wife;
To share your sorrow, share your cheer,
More marvelous each passing year;
To join with you in raising kids
And doing stuff the Church forbids.
So, Happy Birthday! Long, long life!
To PZ's perfect Trophy Wife!

Hello, Mary,
As a former wife of a man who thought he knew, if not all, at least a lot, I know how much PZ must depend on your support to be all that he can be. The not-so-secret formula for success is often having the best of partners.
To the Pharyngulite hordes, you are almost, but not quite invisible. But we females of the species feel your presence daily.
Lovely Monday Metazoans, by the way.
Happiest B-Day to you, and may all your kids remember too.
Posted by: Orly Taitz | September 10, 2009 2:17 PM
Do we have evidence of the birth of the trophy wife on this day? Was she even born in the US?? Show us the long form, hospital issued birth certificate!!!!
And can you prove that she was not delivered by a stork rather than having been born as a result of the sexual union between her parents? Don't ignore the truth of the stork theory of reproduction ... it's a valid scientific theory!
And she must be much younger than even you claim her to be. I say she is only days old yet you probably measure her age in years! There is no evidence that she is multiple years old! Sure, she can talk, but god created her with the abilityto talk. She was created as is, days ago, fully formed and delivered by a stork in Kenya! Let the truth prevail!

Therefore, the happiest of birthdays to you, Mrs. Myers, TW.

It seems only appropriate that a Trophy Wife (TM) should have MM as the initials.
Thank you very much for letting your hubby play with us so much - not just online, but particularly when he jumps on a plane, or teleports, and shows up to

I can’t believe I’m seeing this on a site with the reputation of Pharyngula. Everyone seems to be such a birtdayist, and I can’t believe that you’re buying this. There just isn’t any logical way to support such a claim. First off there is no evidence for this birthday event: There are no transitional award status wife levels in PZ’s history. Where are the ‘Participation Rosette Wife Birthday’ fossils? Where are the ‘Runner-up plaque Spouse Birthday’ Fossils? If there is a Trophy Wife birthday now it must have been that way since the beginning of time and hence there is no reason to celebrate. Perhaps because of this a surprising number of comtemporary Pharyngulists (#118), like myself, support Intelligent Trophy Wife creation theory.
Now, I haven’t bothered investigating this at all, but I know that history is too short for PZ to be having an annual celebration of anything, let alone a Trophy wife’s birthday. I know this because I have been visiting his site for just under a year and I have not see a single thing, not even a single blog-wall painting, to indicate that there has been a previous celebration! Oh, yeah and something about salt as well.
Additionally, PZ in this post is only using allegory to explain the story of Trophy Wife’s creation and current attachment to PZ. He doesn’t literally mean that it is her birthday today, merely that it happened at some undisclosed time in the past and we should perhaps be grateful for it.
Finally, this post of a Trophy Wife’s Birthday, or the ‘theory’ of Trophy wife birthday, doesn’t answer the important Why questions. Like “Why should be celebrate such a Trophy Wife birthday?” I really would have expected more rigour from the acolytes of the #5 leftist and truth-distorter in the world.
However, since I always like to feel part of the in-crowd I’d like to wish Mrs PZ (aka Trophy wife) a very pleasant and cephalopod-filled Birthday!

You appear to make him very happy, he makes us happy... now, if a few hundred well-wishing Pharynuglites can give you a teensy bit of pleasure on your birthday as well, the Great Circle of Do-Gooding* will be complete.
From someone much, much older than you. And, I might add, someone whose husband doesn't -- for some complex reason -- refer to me as a "trophy".
(*Please note that the only reason we're nice is because an angry ghost in the sky has threatened us with eternal torture if we don't behave in a specific way. It could never happen just because we're social creatures who benefit from peace and harmony amongst our group. Oh dear me, no.)

SOME COUPLETS FOR THE TROPHY WIFE
Enjoy your birthday Mrs M.
My gift is in the mail.
I dare not tell you what it is,
Or I’ll go back to jail.
But if you use it twice a day,
Your life will be much better,
For all your cares will float away,
You’ll feel like a jet-setter.
Your children will live long and thrive,
Your husband, he will publish,
That special car you’ve longed to drive,
His royalties will furnish.
So don’t allow some fundy freak,
Your natal day to harm,
Love flows deep in an atheist creek,
And a cracker buys the farm.

Happy Birthday from Smoggy Batzrubble and Floyd Rubber

Happy birthday Mrs. Myers! Many, many happy returns! (I hope you make a haul.)
The same birth month as my wife. An excellent (if extremely common one in the midwest) birth month.
When I was a kid, I wondered why amongst my classmates there were so many birthdays in September and October. When I got older and starting figuring, let's see, Septmber subtract 9 months: December. October, subtract 9 months: January. Minnesota. Weeks of below zero °F temps. Not to mention Christmas and New Year's parties. Hmmmm .......

Happy birthday, ma'am! I hope you've had a good year and I hope your next one is good as well!

Firstly, Happy Birthday, Mrs Myers, from way down here at the bottom!! (My mother used to receive mail addressed to Mrs [my dad's name][our last name], when did they stop doing that?)
Secondly, I usually try to read through the other comments before posting anything of my own --even with something like this-- but, I got to #28, and I, uh, well... kinda lost my appetite. Contemplating PZ's noodly appendage wasn't really part of my plans today...

Many Happy Returns of the Day, Trophy Wife! I wrote a (bad) poem in your honor:
PZ has minions far and wide, who read his every musing
But he'd be dull, and no fun to read, were it not for the mate of his choosing
She brightens his life, then he spreads the cheer
This poem sucks, but the wish is sincere.
Happy birthday!

Here's our traditional family birthday greeting, Mary: Green celery, Mary; green celery.
(That's mangled Spanglish; translate to Spanish, then repeat it quickly, listening in English.)
And I hope PZ broke the bank for the occasion.

A very sincere joyful birthday wish goes out to you, Mrs. Myers! Today is my mother's birthday, too. Come to think of it, I know quite a few people born on or around 10 September. Wonder if it has any connection with being exactly nine months after new years eve?

September 10th is my birthday too. So happy birthday to both of us. I am quite willing to let people know my age, I just turned 57. My wife was so kind as to point out that 57 is definitely in the latter part of the 50's. Sigh, it's all down hill from here.

We know PZ is a studd so here is my guess!
Ooo, don't you just love it when people are born september 9-15 it means their folks had a good new years party.
Haha, It's my birthday on saturday(12th) :D
All of my friends are having birthdays from the 9-15th too.

And PZ seems to have picked up on the most important rule when women's ages are concerned, it goes like this
"Women have Birthdays, they Don't have ages"
remember that and you can never go wrong :-)

Pastor Tobin Maker,
You sir are hilarious :D
I'm not sure if it's just your ignorence or just the failure of your upbringing to surely believe that such tasks as laundry and meal making are purely the womans duties.
I'm sure PZ makes a mean dinner :P
As for "you as his faithful servant are compelled to obey him"
I'm sure PZ and his wife don't think of loving each other as a servent/husband relationship where she obeys him..
Maybe you're jealous of PZ's trophy wife :O

Have a good one and many more to come.
Mr TB5 excells as a Trophy: carrying bits of shopping home, an uncomplaining draught-excluder, sturdy binbag-holder, rural road junction handbrake-turn specialist. I wouldn't have any other. His contemporaneous knowledge of 70s music is, naturally, a tad deficient but this, I have discovered, is not necessarily a bad thing.
Just have to reminf myself sometimes that his 1984 is my 1975

I know better to ask a woman how old she is.
What do you weigh?
How daunting it must be to marry a man who can describe every one of your biological processes in detail...
... and knows that your beauty is not diminished thereby!
