Do you believe in the devil? You know, a supreme evil being dedicated to the temptation, corruption, and destruction of man?

Double your investment!

Category: Godlessness

The Secular Student Alliance is growing faster than their income, but that could change. They just got a generous offer from a donor to provide matching funds, up to $50,000, so you can guess what they're up to now: funding drive! They're looking for more people willing to cough up a few bucks, because every donation between now and December will be doubled.

Help them out, if you can. This is the best time to get a good return on your investment.

And who's coughing up the matching funds? Could it be SATAN?

Btw, these things often happen because someone (in this case, Satan) offers to donate a nice stack of money, and the fundraiser says, well, how about if we turn this into a matching fund? The donor says, okay.

Which is well and good for the most part, it's just that there's a certain amount of flim-flam to it.

This is not said to discourage donation at all, which is important and good.

I tried giving $5*, but it said PayPal couldn't verify my card (which is full active and has plenty of money at the moment).

*I'd offer more but I'm starting a monthly publication for my area that I'm going to distribute to businesses and doorsteps. It's somewhat costly, but it's worth it to get some rational words out there.

Uh, if your area is so high-falutin' that the doorsteps are literate, I suggest yuu distribute your rational words in an area not so thoroughly fortunate in education.

Glen,

It's not Satan, but Todd Stiefel who has given us this matching challenge.

You're right that non-profits sometimes do matching offers the way that you're describing. This is not such a case. Todd has made it very clear to us that this is a matching offer and that he will not give a penny more than we are given between when the match began (10/8) and the end of 12/21/2009. There's zero flim-flam here. If you want to talk with Todd directly about this, let me know.

Forthesakeofscience,

I'm sorry PayPal didn't work for you. You can also use this page: https://www.secularstudents.org/node/8 to donate directly via MasterCard or Visa.

You're also welcome to mail any donation to

Thanks!!
