Nowhere is there an account or portrait of Christ laughing. . .he is always stern, serious and as gloomy as a prison guard. Never does one see him laughing until tears appear in his eyes like the roly-poly squint-eyed Buddha guffawing with arms upraised…

He looks cute and adorable

Category: Organisms

Once again, I risk stirring envy by putting a picture of a kitty-cat on Pharyngula. I met some people who showed me a nice picture of their pet, which is named after…me!

Here's PZ Meowers:

Usually when cats do this, it's during a time when you must use your computer. lol

Well, there's no doubt that a computer can be a bit warmer than the surroundings, which cats like. But I don't think his posts are very cogent.

A Macbook Pro. That cat has good taste:)

Well, there's no doubt that a computer can be a bit warmer than the surroundings, which cats like.

That's a problem that I find with cats. Many times, the warm place they choose to sleep on isn't ideal for them. (like a car)

Of course this is all observations.

Lets hope the cat does not see a creationist comment...it will surely shred them to bits. Or the Screen.

So they finally found a use for their mac? Good for them.

Dummkatz had knack for hitting the off-button when he wanders over my desk.

The cat kind of looks like you too, PZ! It's a shame he's not sitting on a computer running Ubuntu Linux ;)

#14

D'AWWWW! How precious! Such a cutie!

Little PZ is right on, too! All a Mac is good for is an expensive cat bed.

Hope he's not a tinkerer like my cat - I came back into the room one morning to find he had managed to find a hotkey I never knew existed that switched the screen display into 'Portrait' mode.
Took me freakin ages to undo that one...

This is proof positive that decent and outspoken atheists of conscience trump religious mouthpieces for credibilty.
Who has named their cat Pat, Ted, Shmuley, Billy, Dinesh, or Terry?
I couldn't face the long list of horrible names I wouldn't give my cat.

Not that I want to put ideas in your head, but you notice how well he is coming along with the mustachio waxing?

Ok, obviously you should have typed 'PZ MEOWERS' in big white-with-black-outlined text on top of the photo in the typeface Impact.

My cat does the exact same thing and every time he does he gives me this look that seems to say:

"Pay attention to me, hominid! My ancestors used to pull your ancestors out of the trees for a mid-day snack. Now stop watching that porn and pet me..."

Prrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

"...And don't forget to scratch behind my ears or I'll kill you in your sleep!"

Now I feel better about the pun I used in my final presentation last week on the Baikal seal, referencing the tendency of top predators to accumulate contaminants from their prey in their bodies and thus give an indication of the health of the fish population.

"So, in other words, Lake Baikal seafood is like the cans of jam and pickles and such that you get at the grocery store - do not consume if the seal is broken or missing." :3

Maybe PZ can start sending his furry namesake along to debate IDiots in the future.

It would save a lot of stress and the IDers would look even dumber when the cat won.

Dear Editor:

I am writing to voice my strong disgust and offense at your "lolcats" images. I will have you know that we felines are an erudite and sophisticated species who would be quire articulate if it were not for our lack of a speech apparatus. Please discontinue said cartoons or I shall be forced to take further action.

Cordially,

re the "Cat Robertson" - I wonder if the same principle of naming applied to my grandfather's old cat. I only found out after he (my grandfather) died a couple of years back that the full name was Meow See Tongue - Meow turned up as a stray kitten in the late 1960s and lived to about 18. My grandfather was a life-long member of the conservative party.

Maybe I want/need a fatwa: my 18 month old German Shepherd bitch is called Muslimah Hussein Obama (using Hussein as a middle name was so "in" 10.5 years ago-in dog years) and my new rooster's name is Mohammed. Hen's name is Kiki, so that should confuse the mullahs...

Phil Plait's cat is called (Schrö)dinger.

Don't know the name "Ted". I could easily imagine naming one Father Ted. (And I'm sure there's a world of Father Jack cats out there.)

We once had an inbred bitch that we ended up calling Bonk, because she ran into stuff a lot.

Speaking as a member of the feline species, I find LOLcats highly amusing. Mostly because the humans who make the best ones are dead on accurate. I'm starting to suspect, however, that they are not humans, but are cats cleverly disguised as humans.

Don't like it? Kiss my furry ass.

Looks like PZ Meowers can type equally well with his "hands" or his "feet". So I guess we will be seeing twice as much output from this PZ than the "current" PZ. Move over P-Zed, there's a new cat in town.

@42: My 22 year old cat has occasionally surfed the web when I leave the laptop in the wrong place.

One of my cats once created a file in Clearcase (that's a software library system, for those not in the biz). This was in the days when working at home meant borrowing a hulking terminal, and of course the cat loved to perch on top of the monitor as it was high and warm (and he occasionally got petted by whoever was sitting at the keyboard). I was doing some file-creation work one night and got called away briefly. While I was gone, the cat jumped down, stepping on the keyboard, and finishing the command I was typing at the time.

Of course the file name was garbage, and I had to ask the sysadmins to delete it the next day. They were highly amused by my excuse.

My favorite cat and keyboard story was the kitten who someone had brought into my wife's workplace who then proceeded to walk on her keyboard, typing out mews in the process.

I'd call that cat "Smack Dab" since he is obviously smack dab in the middle of the way.

Once I rescued a raggedy male tortoise-shell colored cat who had two breaks in his tail, skinny as a rail (I never could get him fattened up), bones sticking out all over and a distinct isosceles triangle on his chest. He wound up named "Angular." Such a raggedy little fellow he was . . .
