I don't get it...

THIS IS WHAT I GOT OUT OF IT:
Humans may not look like animals to Christians, but they are, just like all the other animals. Thus, we live, we die. Only difference is a conscious brain that allows us to know we are going to die. That kinda sucks. But, the wonder of the earth and life kinda makes up for it. We have no choice, so we have to live with it, anyway. Might as well enjoy the view.
You have to view the whole cartoon to get the point. Unfortunately, when you go to that website, there is a spyware that has attached to that webpage. If you want to view the cartoon, soon as it downloads click the stop button on your address bar (must do this quickly.) Then, make sure you run super anti-spyware (free download) to get the crap off your PC).

I thought it was just that the cat found him unappetizing after he compares himself to something tasty.
Posted by: Torrie | December 7, 2009 9:40 AM
yeah, could be that, too. Heck, I dunno.
Posted by: David | December 7, 2009 9:40 AM
Yeah sorry. I really don't get it either.

So how does this squidware get through your firewall?
Posted by: Chris Lamb | December 7, 2009 9:50 AM
I, I... don't get it.
Posted by: Ancient Mariner | December 7, 2009 9:55 AM
Maybe the cat thinks that if he thinks he's just like any other animal he will start walking around nude
Posted by: Torrie | December 7, 2009 10:12 AM
i dunno. i have avg pro that i pay for and i have windows firewall. i imagine it gets through a lot of people's, though. it's that one that tells you your computer has a virus and it acts like it is running a virus scan. it wants you to pay money. ultimately, they pocket the money and give you nothing.

I get the opposite, PZ, I have been told to take my shirt off so many times I can't count them. Perhaps if I put superglue all over my chest and lay on my cat I won't get anymore requests.
Posted by: mus | December 7, 2009 10:26 AM
My hypothesis is this: the cat loves squid. Specifically, he loves to eat them. Since the guy said that squid are animals like him, the cat thinks that that means the guy is also good to eat. So the cat asks him to take off his shirt so that he can savagely attack and eat him.

That's a cat?!

Thanks a bunch PZ the link to that cartoon crashes Firefox and my RSS reader Vienna. Grumble, grumble.

Except it doesn't.

I think it means the cat is skeptical that squids are "just like" humans, and if the guy were to take off his shirt, it would be obvious he looks nothing like a squid.

That will get you the strip without having to visit the site.
(I really don't think that thing is a cat now that I've seen the whole strip.)
I highly suggest a script blocker for your browsing safety. ;)
Now, perhaps if there was a normal way to contact the site admin, I'd let him know that his server is possibly hosting scareware scripts...

I linked to the cartoon just fine.
Bucky (the best cat in cartoonland) didn't want him to take off his shirt because he would get grossed out by the tentacles/squidness he now assumes will be under there. If you were a regular reader, you'd get it right away based on Bucky's personality.

Oooh, now that I read the strip from the beginning, apparently it's really about eating the guy.
Hm, seems so far from reality that it's hard to get a laugh out of it. If nothing else, the cat's (I think it's feline) rather small to be able to chew the flesh off of the guy.

Hence, "It is like being nibbled to death by cats."
:)
Posted by: ursulamajor | December 7, 2009 11:15 AM
Umm...no, Bucky doesn't want to eat his owner. And for the record he is a Siamese cat. He is just easily grossed out and very curmudgeonly. He asks Rob NOT to take off his shirt for reasons I mentioned above. They also have a great dog named Satchel in the toon, kind of a Norton to Bucky's Kramden.

I had to reboot my computer after linking to the cartoon. I hate it when some ad tries to take control of my computer.

I was at the Asian market yesterday and saw some shredded, fried squid. Was super tempted to send you some PZ.

@22 Firefox and AdblockPlus are your friends Janine.

I use Firefox. Still, that damned Antispyware kicked off my what was on my screen and informed me it was running a sweep.

Wasn't that the cartoonist who got into some trouble for implying that a local sportscaster (Eastern MA)was drunk while on the air?
Posted by: SoreLoser | December 7, 2009 12:47 PM
@21 So Rob (aka, Pinky) is Alice?
Posted by: ursulamajor | December 7, 2009 12:59 PM
Pinkish as Alice? I'll go for it. The voice of reason, rolling his eyes at Bucky's ideas.

Squid aren't fruit?
Posted by: Mike | December 7, 2009 7:09 PM
Get Fuzzy has been a long time favourite of mine. =D Yes, Bucky is a cat. There is also a dog named Satchel, and the human is named Rob. Ferrets also occur commonly but aren't part of the family.

"If you were a regular reader, you'd get it right away based on Bucky's personality."
I am a regular reader and I still didn't get it.
Thanks for everyone's explanations.

i think get fuzzy is trying to communicate with you. today's 12/8 talks even more about squid in general and even implies FSM in the last panel.
