Last night I went to the Seahawks/49ers game at Seattle's spectacular Qwest field. While the field was spectacular, my SF 49ers were less than spectacular, losing the game 24-0. In fact they down right stunk. Ouch. Qwest field really is a rocking venue: I attended a game last year right after the league started investigating the Seahawks for pumping in noise over the speakers (which the team denied, and as far as I know no one has ever shown.) That game had the loudest crowd I have ever heard. Walking to the game from downtown Seattle you could hear the crowd from a huge distance away.
Last night's game wasn't quite as loud, but still the crowd was able to illicit multiple off-sides from the niners. More interestingly, and more disturbing I might add, I'm pretty sure the guy right behind me was yelling "I Love You!" throughout the second half whenever the crowd started making noise.

We also got the obligatory Veteran's day American musical extravaganza. Why, oh why, do they play "Born in the USA" during these things? I mean I think the song is a classic: just not the sort of gung-ho patriotic song most people apparently think it is:

Stunk is too weak a word. Historically awful? Incapable and Incompetent? Certainly completely unwatchable. I left the sports bar during the second quarter when they still didn't even have a first down. Ugh.

It was amusing that they finally got a first down on the very last play of the first half a hail mary pass which was caught as time expired. I think it doubled their yardage at that point as well.

Monday Night Football sucks since it moved from ABC. That last game was typical, and I'm a nominal SeaHawks fan.

Doubled? Dunno about total yardage. They apparently had -3 passing yards before that hail mary, so they -14.33'd their passing yards?

Total rushing + passing. If you add in penalities it wasn't a double. But I like the phrase "-14 and a thirded their passing yards."

We've been thinking that the Cal Bears might give the 49ers a run for their money. With the SFG's on a streak of 3 losing seasons, I thought both my FB teams would give me some return on my emotional investment dollar. Ah, well. (At least the Bears beat Oregon!) Hope you've had a chance to see a ballgame at SAFECO, next door. That is a great venue as well.

Mark you will be totally jealous if I tell you how many games I've gone to at SAFECO and had seats right behind the home side dugout. As in put your feet up on the dugout close! I mean I could say something to Ichiro in Japanese and he might say something back close. That is if I knew Japanese :)
