For many years, and in particular during my college years, I was a huge Pink Floyd fan. Indeed, I suspect the first trace of me on the internet probably involves a post on a Pink Floyd newsgroup of which I am now quite embarrassed (but my ideas was sound, damnit!). Thus it is with great sadness that I learned today via Quantum Moxie that Richard Wright, keyboardist for the Pink Floyd, has passed away due to cancer.

I find it incredibly sad that I didn't even know he was battling cancer until I saw the reports of his passing this morning.

Yeah, me neither. It was such a jolt when I heard. I kept hoping they'd go on tour again (I was lucky enough to see them twice). One thing I liked about Wright's tunes were their whimsy. He was a bit like Syd Barrett in that regard. Oddly enough, I actually possess a vinyl copy of his first solo album, Wet Dream. I picked it up at a flea market almost twenty years ago.
And Dave, do not be embarrassed about posting to the Floyd newsgroup. We all used to do it...

I agree, makes me feel sort of like a jerk for not knowing he was suffering, but if ever an argument could be made that 'he lived a full and hapy life' ...

You do have his solo album don't ya? Wet Dreams? I think it ties with Gilmour's first as best solo Floyd. Mind you I'm not big on Waters as much so....
