Actually, the insurance industry is giddy with the prospect that a form of healthcare reform will pass -- as long as it doesn't include a public option.
In their ideal world, everyone will be required to buy health insurance -- from them. And if someone can't afford the price, their premiums will be subsidized with tax dollars.
Everyone in the country will be tithing to the insurance companies. And a portion of our premiums (including those covered by our taxes) will be used to pay lobbying firms who will work hard to make sure they continue to get their way.
