Profile
Jake Young is a MD/PhD student at Mount Sinai School of Medicine focusing in Neuroscience. He is due to graduate in 2032. He received a BS and a MS in Biological Sciences from Stanford University -- where he spent most of his time drinking heavily and building vegetable catapults instead of learning information that would now be eminently useful. When he is not failing terrifically to perform his sworn duties, he enjoys watching bad movies, ethnic food, and running.
Pure Pedantry is a blog about science -- social sciences and otherwise -- as well as academic and scientific culture. No one can live on science alone, so I also like to dwell on pop culture, periodically explore the humanities, and indulge in other types of geeky goodness.
Jake is joined periodically by two wonderful guest bloggers: Kara Contreary and Kate Seip. See the About Page.

The Synapse (a neuroscience carnival)
The Synapse is a neuroscience carnival devoted to all areas of neuroscience including neurobiology, psychology, psychiatry, and neural systems -- healthy brains to perverse minds -- neurotransmitters to theories of mind. Whatever you got, we want your best posts about brain function.
Submission guidelines
The post must be at least marginally related to neuroscience. I will allow your discretion to determine this unless it becomes a problem. They need not be paper reviews; fun stuff like visual illusions can also be great. However, just a link to someone else's article is not what we are looking for -- try to send stuff that represents your original analysis.
If you would like to submit, please submit by email to the host by 9 pm the day before the deadline listed below. Please include the following in said email:
-- Your name (or pseudonym)
-- Your blog's name
-- The link
For the time being, I will limit posts to two per person per carnival.
The individual hosting for that week has the sole discretion about which links will be included and in what form. Regular participants will be solicited to be hosts in the future.
Also feel free to steal the logo or the link button below:

The Synapse has been temporarily suspended.
If you are interested in making submissions to a neuroscience carnival, please submit to Encephalon, either here through Blog Carnival or by emailing encephalon.host {at} gmail [dot] com.
