Week of Science Challenge

So this blog, along with a large cohort of others, has signed up for the first ever Week of Science Challenge (TM). What is said challenge? Simple: We have to post about science, and naught else. So, this week I'll try to stay on-topic and explore a bit into my areas of study (neuroscience, hearing impairment) and leave the fun/weird/parrot-related stuff out.

Any suggestions of stuff people want to see?

How about an update on your research results in the regrowth of hair cells in the cochlea?

Hmmm, I got a bit of a talking-to (by my mentor) the last time I talked about un-published research. So, I'm not sure if I can do that. However, I *can* and will happily talk about the stuff thats either published on the the definitive pipeline!

i want to know why my children can't hear a word i'm saying even if i hold their heads still with their eyes facing me (as much as i can since their eyes seem to roll back into their heads at that point), but if i whisper something to my husband two rooms away they hear me perfectly. it must be some sort of hair cell defect, right?

So, does "Go Colts" mean you failed the challenge?
