I came across a Russian blog purporting to have photo evidence of an abandoned Soviet-era neuroscience lab outside Moscow, left in a real hurry for unknown reasons. I thought it might be a hoax or exaggeration, but after looking at the photos posted to the blog, even if it wasn't exactly true, the photos were amazing bits of neuro nostalgia.

Looks kind of staged. I suppose a shot of the outside of the building would be nice.
However, if it is legit, I think it's probably a pretty cool story to look into.

Love the pictures!
I recently came across a claim of another abandoned hospital, however I too was unsure if the pictures seemed staged or not. Interestingly enough, it's on Poveglia island and is supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the world. I, personally, don't believe in supernatural stuff but I ended up looking at these pictures. They're of an Italian psychiatric hospital and it looks like they were also either staged or whoever used to work there just abandoned everything in tact. Is it common practice in some areas to just abandon everything? I mean this one has medical instruments still laid out on tables and everything.

Heh, just randomness mostly...searches, redditt, friends, etc.
I'm still unsure as to the truthfulness of the pictures, but that blog has other weird soviet-era buildings in pictures (there was a high-voltage station that was kinda interesting.)

I heard about the island of Poveglia when i lived in italy. I've had friends go there and said they couldn't stay on there for more than five minutes. I've tried going myself and never could get any of the locals to take me. They would act nervous anytime I would mention about going there. I still would like to go there but only during the day time. If you just type the name up online you can pull up plenty about the islands history.

Not sure how unusual it is to abandon medical equipment and materials you would not think would be abandoned. Here's a link to some photos of an abandoned hospital in Hyde Park, Chicago, where you can see all kinds of stuff left behind, including x-ray equipment and x-rays still clipped to a lightbox. (Sorry, not nearly as creepy as the brains.)
