Retrospectacle: A Neuroscience Blog

Category archives for Announcements

Retrospectacle has been a wonderful hobby and outlet for my writing for almost three years. I started writing at Blogspot for a few reasons- to critically report science news, to convert the tomes of science to layperson-speak, to attempt to educate and entertain myself as well as my audience (hopefully). I think that it has…

Blog Hiatus Until March 1st

As you all know, Steve and I are merging blogs into the aptly-named ‘Of Two Minds’ blog. We’re going live on March 1st, and since we have a lot of work to do to get it ready and pretty (new banners in the works!) I decided to go on blogging hiatus here a few weeks…

‘Name That Blog’ Contest Closed

The contest to name that blog is closed, and Steve and I are perusing the many entries now. Stay tuned for the big announcement!

Just a quick reminder that Friday (tomorrow) is the last day to submit the potentially prize-winning entry to name the brand new blog that Steve and I are starting quite soon. Today has been a mix of stress (blogging scholarship, practice talks) and exhilaration (my friend’s thesis defense is today and I’m gonna be in Europe soon!) exacerbated by more caffeine and less sleep than…

DonorsChoose Time for ScienceBlogs!

This year I’m taking part in the the DonorsChoose fundraiser taking place at ScienceBlogs. DonorsChoose is a website where teachers can ask to have small teaching projects funded, and potential donors can peruse the proposals can fund ones that seemed worthwhile. Many of the teachers who submit proposals to DonorsChoose are in areas of the…

Ok, but you’re gonna have to fight me for it. A non-profit organization, Collegescholarships.org, is holding another student blogging scholarship contest. You may remember it from last year, I was actually a runner-up (and yes, still eligible this year). This year the prize money is increased to $10,000 for the first place blog, so I…
