Ray posited that it was our ability to feel empathy with one another that enabled complex societies to form and led to the dominance of our species. Intelligence could not be measured soley by abstract reasoning or processing power, but included emotional intelligence. My question for you is this: is emotional understanding a necessary pre-requisite for artificial intelligence? Or could a race of autonomous, self-fabricating robots live without it?
