Alice Pawley Alice Pawley is an assistant professor of engineering education at Purdue University. She blogs at the intersection of women's studies and engineering, a pretty empty space but with potential to grow. She wants to be a feminist-but-tenured professor when she grows up.

sciwo's boots SciWo is an assistant professor of geosciences. She blogs about the intersection of science and real life - primarily based on her first-hand experiences. Her older posts can be found here.

Link love: B, C, & D

Category: link love
Posted on: March 4, 2008 5:40 AM, by SciWo

More linky goodness from my saved bloglines. Today's edition brought to you by the letters B, C, and D.

But first a flashback to the A's:
Ask a scientist: What's the deal with plastic baby bottles? at a Natural Scientist.
Jenny's post is timely for me because I recently found out that after trying to avoid bisphenol A in my bottles, I'd accidentally bought one of the few Gerber sippy cups that did contain it. Here's a pretty comprehensive list of BPA free baby products.

And now on to the B's.
Mama delivers a good scolding by Bitch Ph.D.
Bitch offers wonderful insightful and irreverent analysis of politics and life from a feminist perspective. I tend to agree with her.

Moving rapidly through the alphabet, we arrive at C
101 things in 1001 days at The Clutter Museum
The to-do list to end all to-do lists. I started to make one but then moved on to other things. Good luck to Trillwing in completing her chosen tasks, and I hope she lets us know how it's going.

Field notebook for the office
at Clastic Detritus
BrianR is starting a journal for project ideas. This one is also on my to-do list. I just have to find the perfect notebook. Maybe I'll give a moleskin one a try.

Science Podcasts at Clastic Detritus
BrianR has a pretty good list.

And on to D...

What happens if you run out of money?
at Dr. Mom
She never got a really informed answer, but she's not the only one who is curious.

Situation for Women Faculty at Dr. Mom
A follow up on the above post, plus a new study by MIT on the hiring of women.

Dear Prospective PhD students of the world by Dr. Shellie
Some good advice.

I highly recommend del.icio.us and their auto-post feature. I used to have the same problem of bookmarks piling up, but now I tag them for del.icio.us, and they automatically post once a day.

It's easy enough to set up, and makes some aspects of blogging a lot easier.

Thanks Chad. I'll have to check it out.

I have a similar script that compiles everything I've posted with a "to scienceblogs" tag in the past week, and formats it nicely, but I haven't yet figured out how to get it to autopost. So I cut'n'paste.
