As you've probably heard, Isis the Scientist has gotten herself some new digs around these parts. Her blog, "On Becoming a Domestic and Laboratory Goddess," also got itself a shiny new banner.
And while I've got to admit that I admire her for strongly-held opinions on footwear and other subjects, I'm disappointed by her obvious failure to cite her sources.
Banners from my pre-partnered days, in order of creation. All of these banners far predate the creation of Dr. Isis's pretentious little blog.

ooh - play nice, I like reading both of you (although you, Sciencewoman came first, and as a Blog of Note was my introduction to a huge wide world of bloggers) And Isis isn't in my Google Reader, but I do like her arch style and knock-out pseudonymic confidence occasionally).
Back then, Minnow, and Landon, and Baby Jane weren't born. FSP had not conducted the kitten search. And I wasn't spending an hour a day reading blogs.
Hmmm, note to self, query whether this time could be reduced. Damn Google reader, and the enticing links to hte NYT most e-mailed!

I like your current Sciencewomen banner, as well as the frosty icicles banner. Simple, beautiful, nature photos.
FWIW, I prefer blogs written in the honest, direct styles that you and Alice use. Besides, as much as I walk and stand in the lab and while teaching every day, heels would be a stupid or crippling choice (and they'd poke holes in the shoe-covers that are required in the animal facility).

The phrase construction "on (verb) a (noun) and a (noun)" is surely centuries old, yes?
Google is giving me over 1.1 million hits on the phrase "on being a", and most of them, believe it or not, do not refer to this blog or to Dr. Isis.
