As you've probably heard, Isis the Scientist has gotten herself some new digs around these parts. Her blog, "On Becoming a Domestic and Laboratory Goddess," also got itself a shiny new banner.

And while I've got to admit that I admire her for strongly-held opinions on footwear and other subjects, I'm disappointed by her obvious failure to cite her sources.
Banners from my pre-partnered days, in order of creation. All of these banners far predate the creation of Dr. Isis's pretentious little blog.

Besides, I like your shoes better than hers.

ooh - play nice, I like reading both of you (although you, Sciencewoman came first, and as a Blog of Note was my introduction to a huge wide world of bloggers) And Isis isn't in my Google Reader, but I do like her arch style and knock-out pseudonymic confidence occasionally).
Back then, Minnow, and Landon, and Baby Jane weren't born. FSP had not conducted the kitten search. And I wasn't spending an hour a day reading blogs.
Hmmm, note to self, query whether this time could be reduced. Damn Google reader, and the enticing links to hte NYT most e-mailed!

there is also the issue of font usage. She totally needs to give you credit! :D

Maybe Isis should make YOU an offering from her extensive list of domestications (the soup was fantastic!).

You totally rock sciencewoman!

I would like to issue a blanket protest to the habit of starting a title with a preposition.

I'm digging the tent in the first iteration. However, I must confess that I didn't know these earliest banners existed.

I think I started reading shorty after the winter scence came, because I remember people commenting on it.

I like your current Sciencewomen banner, as well as the frosty icicles banner. Simple, beautiful, nature photos.
FWIW, I prefer blogs written in the honest, direct styles that you and Alice use. Besides, as much as I walk and stand in the lab and while teaching every day, heels would be a stupid or crippling choice (and they'd poke holes in the shoe-covers that are required in the animal facility).

Can't poor Isis go one week without having to battle another female blogger? I mean, just one week?
Posted by: Dr. Isis | November 13, 2008 11:36 PM
Isis is a science blogger?

Hmm, maybe I should join the club and make a banner. But wait, that would require some kind of artistic talent on my part. Unfortunately, I don't have any when it comes to graphic design.

"On Becoming a Scientist and A Woman" is still listed in some bloggy sidebars!

So do you want *everyone* whose blog banner uses the "On ____ing a ____ and ____" format to cite you? Or just the women bloggers?

Why is a tongue-in-cheek scolding of Dr. Isis an attack she has to "battle", but a tongue-in-cheek scolding from Dr. Isis is the height of wit and genius?

Oh, stop "c." Dr. Isis was merely teasing ScienceWoman back for the introductory teasing she received. Some of you wacky bloggers are constantly up in arms.

*growls, hisses, prepares to attack...*
*blog promptly gets hacked and I spend the rest of the day floundering around with my fur puffed and ears sleeked back in annoyance instead...*

The phrase construction "on (verb) a (noun) and a (noun)" is surely centuries old, yes?
Google is giving me over 1.1 million hits on the phrase "on being a", and most of them, believe it or not, do not refer to this blog or to Dr. Isis.
