StoryCorps: Ledo Lucietto and daughter Anne, mechanical engineers

Category: in the news

alice.jpgI am a total sucker for StoryCorps - I think it is a brilliant brilliant project, and wish I had brought my parents in to be interviewed when the recording trailer came to my hometown. I keep telling myself I'm going to record them - I'm planning another attempt when I go home for Christmas.

In the meantime, you should listen to the story of Ledo Lucietto and his daughter Anne, and how they've been mechanical engineers for generations, and how Ledo told people off when they dismissed his daughter's aspirations for becoming a mechanical engineer, too.

Sorry I missed it! It was recorded at the Society of Women Engineers conference in Baltimore. This was the second year that we had the StoryCorps booth at the conference, but it is the first time that I know of that an interview has been broadcast.

I thought it was a great segment. I also immediately thought of your FIE session in Saratoga on engineering stories and came here to make sure you knew about it. One step ahead of me.

Heard it while getting dressed for work in the morning and loved it! And thought of you, of course.

Alice,

Thanks so much for highlighting the latest StoryCorps piece, recorded at the Society of Women Engineers conference. For everyone hoping to record a story with their own family or friends, check our our tips and resources at www.nationaldayoflistening.org.

Happy listening,
