Snapshots of ScienceOnline09

Category: SciWo says...bloggingconference chatter
Posted on: January 20, 2009 8:11 AM, by SciWo

swblocks.jpgThe real world intervened (i.e., I got a nasty cold) with my best intentions to provide more thorough blogging coverage of the wonderful conference (hi everyone!). Maybe someday I'll manage to work my thoughts from the sessions into coherent blog posts, but I know I'm pretty bad about promising and not delivering results (hello, the time-off post. It's 1/2 written even).

But here are some snapshots of the conference. And let me just say that Alice is even more wonderful in person than she is on blog. She is way cool. No wonder they gave her a trading card at the WISE event on Friday.
Women Science Bloggers trading cards
(Hey, Peggy, I snagged a whole stack of your cards. Send me an addy and I'll get them in the mail for you.)

Sigma Xi Center, scene of ScienceOnline09
Sigma Xi center, the site of ScienceOnline09, on a chilly Sunday morning. That's Lab Cat for scale! (It was wonderful to meet you, Lab Cat.)

Alice Pawley and Janet Stemwedel after hours
And here's Alice with Janet of Adventures in Ethics and Science. Janet, of course, is just as thoughtful, compassionate, and funny in person as she is on her blog. (I trust you are all reading it...)

I didn't get any other pictures (except one for Alice (check to my Flickr page)), but I also had the distinct pleasure of meeting Chris Rowan, Propter Doc, Acmegirl, and too many other science bloggers to name. Thanks to Anton, Bora, and Abel for putting together a great conference.

It was a real pleasure to meet you, too. It's not often you get a chance to meet your hero!
