What is your idea of a perfect day?
I get a fundable score on an R01, I get papers accepted to Nature and Science, and one of my trainees shows me some new data that clearly open up a new area of inquiry fertile for more R01s and more Nature and Science papers.
What's your greatest habitual annoyance?
People who do not make themselves clear.
Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
My favorite hero of fiction is the protagonist and narrator of White Jacket, by Herman Melville.
Your favorite heroes in real life?
Several personal friends.
What's your most marked characteristic?
Belligerent verbosity.
What's your fatal flaw?
Belligerent verbosity.
