Today Page 3.14 interviews the anonymous PhysioProf, who writes (along with the anonymous DrugMonkey) at our new blog DrugMonkey. (For more about the blog, see Abel's introductory post.)

PP's responses here are short and sweet—which is odd considering what's supposedly PP's "most marked characteristic."

So, PhysioProf, what do you do when you're not blogging?
Basic science faculty member at a private medical school.

(More below the fold...)

What is your blog called?
DrugMonkey. I also have a less-science, more politics blog at http://physioprof.wordpress.com.

What's up with that name?
Don't ask me. Ask DrugMonkey. I'm just riding on his coattails.

How long have you been blogging, anyway?
About five months.

Last book you read?
Clear Writing: Readings in Expository Prose, edited by Mather and McLenithan

What is your idea of a perfect day?
I get a fundable score on an R01, I get papers accepted to Nature and Science, and one of my trainees shows me some new data that clearly open up a new area of inquiry fertile for more R01s and more Nature and Science papers.

What's your greatest habitual annoyance?
People who do not make themselves clear.

Who are your favorite heroes of fiction?
My favorite hero of fiction is the protagonist and narrator of White Jacket, by Herman Melville.

Your favorite heroes in real life?
Several personal friends.

What's your most marked characteristic?
Belligerent verbosity.

What's your fatal flaw?
Belligerent verbosity.

Who are your favorite writers?
Herman Melville, Edith Wharton, and Upton Sinclair.

What would you like to be?
What I already am.

So that's what you're about! Glad you're putting in appearances elsewhere - the traffic is growing by leaps and bounds!

May all your funding dreams come true!
