Canada and Vietnam

It's this very clip that makes me so frustrated. It's quite old now, and it got a lot of attention when the episode of CBC 's "Fifth Estate" first aired. Then it was a central part of a bafflingly positive feature on Coulter in Time magazine about a year ago.

Almost everything she writes or says is wrong, and yet no matter how much attention is drawn to her errors, she seems to suffer no loss of credibility and keeps getting invited to talk on the MSM. What else can we do?

Er...what? How can anyone possibly think that Canada sent troops to Vietnam? The classic choices for a draftee in the Vietnam conflict were 1)Join the army, 2)Go to jail, 3)Flee to Canada.

Indeed they did. As many Canadians also crossed the border and fought in the Civil War on both sides, although primarily Union (although I guess at that time they were technically still British citizens). And some fought in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Even though Canada was not a part of the Coalition of the Willing, still about 30 Canadian troops detached to U.S. units at the time were sent to Iraq with them. So by Coulters calculus, Canada also fought in the Iraq War II (surprise) and the American Civil War (bigger surprise).

I'm amazed anyone actually takes seriously a word she says. Has she ever had even one interesting or thoughtful insight? Other right wing commentators can manage it once in a while. Not Bill O'Reilly of course, but some others.
