Keith Olberman on Bush’s sacrifice of his golf game:
"Mr. President," he was asked, "you haven’t been golfing in recent years. Is that related to Iraq? "Yes," began perhaps the most startling reply of this nightmarish blight on our lives as Americans - on our history. "It really is. I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be as - to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal."
Golf, Sir? Golf sends the wrong signal to the grieving families of our men and women butchered in Iraq? Do you think these families, Mr. Bush - their lives blighted forever - care about you playing golf? Do you think, Sir, they care about you?
You, Mr. Bush, let their sons and daughters be killed.
Sir, to show your solidarity with them - you gave up golf? Sir, to show your solidarity with them - you didn’t give up your pursuit of this insurance-scam, profiteering, morally and financially bankrupting war. Sir, to show your solidarity with them - you didn’t even give up talking about Iraq - a subject about which you have incessantly proved without pause or backwards glance, that you may literally be the least informed person in the world? Sir, to show your solidarity with them, you didn’t give up... your 4,000 dead Americans and your response... was to stop playing golf!
Golf.
Not "gulf" - golf.
Seriously folks, this is an embarrassment to all of us.

If 'Fearless Leader' is generous to sacrifice his golf games the very least we can do is follow his noble example and ante up our share, roughly forty-five hundred dead, 37000 wounded or maimed and two trillion dollars. Fair is fair. If he is going to pay for lunch the least we can do is cover the tip. I'm pretty sure this is how W and Cheney feel.
There ought to be a word for this sort of situation ...

Actually, it might have been a sound PR decision to not be seen playing golf, but coming across as sacrificing golf for dead and dying soldiers kind of ruined the whole thing.

But think about it positively: when all other numbers are going down - popularity ratings, value of the dollar, etc. - at least his handicap is going up.

And later in the segment he pointed out how Bush lied about how / when he made the decision. Olberman showed pictures with dates of Bush golfing, months after he said he gave it up.
This guy probably lies about what he ate for breakfast.

Yeah, Keith brought it again with his special comment. I mean that Bill O clip was funny the other day, but he is literally the only person in the mainstream media consistently pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of the Bush administration on a daily basis. So many people have bought into this lame duck presidency idea, focusing on the presidential race, and have forgotten that the man in power is still ruining the country and even his supposedly benevolent gestures are complete bullshit.
I thought Keith was gonna lose it for a sec, but he kept it together and soldiered on. Stay classy San Diego.
