An Unintended Consequence

Category: A World Worth Fighting For
Posted on: November 2, 2008 9:06 AM, by Blake Stacey

Another reason to visit the Internet is to find agonies of introspection and crises of the heart which stretch across many years climaxing in a single, eminently quotable paragraph. To wit, consider Jeffrey, whose three-year journey from fundamentalism brought him here:

On April 19, 2008, I went to see the movie "Expelled." I was unsurprised to see ID propaganda, but what surprised me was how many arguments for atheism were presented and how good they looked when paired with Christianity's most foolish tenets. As far as I was concerned, the movie ended when Dawkins was asked what he would say to God were he to meet him after death. Dawkins replied, "Why did you take such pains to conceal yourself?" This retort was crushing as I thought about my lack of a relationship with God.

Please read the rest of Jeffrey's story and remember that for all epic lulz, there is a price to be paid.

I was amused to see that the ads for the Expelled DVD, which appeared about a week ago, carefully cut Ben Stein's appearances so that he doesn't say anything particularly snarky about evolution nor appeal to God.
