Study finds regional differences in US serial killings:
Did you know that people living in the Western region of the United States are more likely to become victims of a serial killer than people living in the Northeast?Ah, science. The study by University of Connecticut Emeritus Sociology Professor James DeFronzo examined male serial killers in the United States from 1970 to 1992. It is published in Homicide Studies. Yet another reason to fear those odd Westerners.

Ugh.
As a western Canadian, I'll bet the same holds here. Not so long ago, we had Clifford Olson, who murdered 11? 13? children, and is now serving life (his ENTIRE life I hope). We now have Willie Picton on trial, who is suspected in 49 (49!) murders of women from Vancouver's lower east side. I don't recall any serial murderers of this magnitude from any other province. Welcome to Lotus Land.
