I know where the upper midwestern comes from. My maternal grandfather was from Ohio.
The Yankee part is also explainable as the rest of my family is all from the 200 mile circle of NYC to Boston.
The real surprise is the Dixie. Granted it is only 5% but I know exactly where that comes from. My SO is from North Carolina.
