Thoughts from Kansas

You will notice that it lacks definiteness; that it lacks purpose; that it lacks coherence; that it lacks a subject to talk about; that it is loose and wabbly; that it wanders around; that it loses itself early and does not find itself any more. --Mark Twain

More Expelled reviews

Category: Creationism
Posted on: March 21, 2008 1:20 AM, by Josh Rosenau

Someone at the same screening of Expelled: No Intelligence that PZ Myers was tossed out of has two very contradictory things to say about the movie:

the entire audience, minus Dawkins’ posse, agreed that that the film’s main point was that Intelligent Design should be taught in conjunction with Evolution.
And also:

In fact, Nazi Germany is the thread that ties everything in the movie together. Evolution leads to atheism leads to eugenics leads to Holocaust and Nazi Germany.
Teach the outrageous and shoddy attempt to trivialize the Holocaust! As the ADL's Abraham Foxman has said before: "Hitler did not need Darwin to devise his heinous plan to exterminate the Jewish people. Trivializing the Holocaust comes from either ignorance at best or, at worst, a mendacious attempt to score political points in the culture war on the backs of six million Jewish victims and others who died at the hands of the Nazis."

If these people really think that "Evolution leads to atheism leads to eugenics leads to Holocaust and Nazi Germany", then one has to wonder why they also think that "Intelligent Design should be taught in conjunction with Evolution". Why are they even advocating evolution be taught at all?

Blaming Darwin for Hitler is the hight of hutpza. Far more influential on Hitlers' thought are the rantings of Martin Luther, the father of the Protestant Reformation. You want antisemitism, I'll give you antisemitism. The following screed was authored by Mr. Luther.

"What then shall we Christians do with this damned, rejected race of Jews? Since they live among us and we know about their lying and blasphemy and cursing, we can not tolerate them if we do not wish to share in their lies, curses, and blasphemy. In this way we cannot quench the inextinguishable fire of divine rage nor convert the Jews. We must prayerfully and reverentially practice a merciful severity. Perhaps we may save a few from the fire and flames [of hell]. We must not seek vengeance. They are surely being punished a thousand times more than we might wish them. Let me give you my honest advice.

First, their synagogues should be set on fire, and whatever does not burn up should be covered or spread over with dirt so that no one may ever be able to see a cinder or stone of it. And this ought to be done for the honor of God and of Christianity in order that God may see that we are Christians, and that we have not wittingly tolerated or approved of such public lying, cursing, and blaspheming of His Son and His Christians.

Secondly, their homes should likewise be broken down and destroyed. For they perpetrate the same things there that they do in their synagogues. For this reason they ought to be put under one roof or in a stable, like gypsies, in order that they may realize that they are not masters in our land, as they boast, but miserable captives, as they complain of incessantly before God with bitter wailing.

Thirdly, they should be deprived of their prayer-books and Talmuds in which such idolatry, lies, cursing, and blasphemy are taught.

Fourthly, their rabbis must be forbidden under threat of death to teach any more...

Fifthly, passport and traveling privileges should be absolutely forbidden to the Jews. For they have no business in the rural districts since they are not nobles, nor officials, nor merchants, nor the like. Let them stay at home...If you princes and nobles do not close the road legally to such exploiters, then some troop ought to ride against them, for they will learn from this pamphlet what the Jews are and how to handle them and that they ought not to be protected. You ought not, you cannot protect them, unless in the eyes of God you want to share all their abomination...

To sum up, dear princes and nobles who have Jews in your domains, if this advice of mine does not suit you, then find a better one so that you and we may all be free of this insufferable devilish burden - the Jews..."

Christianity leads to the Inquisition and torture, promotes ignorance, destroys all indigenous culture, pollutes the planet, and leads to a nuclear apocalypse.

That's pretty self-evident when you study the history of a civilization that adopts Christianity as its main belief system.

The breadcrumb trail of Darwinism to atheism to eugenics to Naziism was not part of the movie. Bottom line. Whoever wrote that is an undiscerning ignoramous. The movie DID, in fact, say that for some people Darwinism informs atheism (e.g. Clinton Dawkins), and for some people Darwinism informed eugenics (e.g. Margaret Sanger; I know she is known for "a woman's right to privacy, but dig a little deeper and, voila, she was a racist), and for some people Darwinism informed their fascism, Hitler. Done.

In the same way, the post above that claims that Christianity led to the inquisition is idiotic. I won't go into that here for two reasons: pearls before swine, and I am outta here.

Oh not quite. Luther wrote anti-semitic rants. True enough, but did THOSE rants influence Hitler? Considering that Hitler imprisoned and martyred the leaders of the Confessing Church of Germany (e.g. D. Bonhoeffer) it seems, er, unlikely. Now I am outta here.

It amazes how often Christianity is blamed for the bad in our society as someone wrote in an earlier post. As if there were no Christianity, we wouldn't have torture, ignorance, the destruction of indigenous cultures, etc. Get real. Do you really believe that's what Christianity is all about? Now, that's ignorant.

I saw the movie, and it is nothing like the ignoramus critics say it is. They seem to have a hissee everytime someone puts them in the spotlight.
I'd like to see these self-appointed critics answer some very simple questions about evolution, darwinism, etc. And, by the way, if Dawkins is so smart, how did he let the Expelled folks "dupe" him. What a lame excuse. Actually, darwinism is nothing more than a branch of a goddess religion, and once one sees the connection, it cannot be denied.
Why is it everyone gets upset with "Christian" symbols in "public" places of authority and don't give a hang at the female goddess symbols all over the place. They represent religion as much as the symbols the unknowing constantly try to get rid of, like the ten C's. Yet, they don't try to get rid of the State Religion, i.e. goddess symbols everywhere, like the statue over the State Capitol in Texas, etc. etc.
Be nice to see an honest review sometime. Oh, and the critics don't talk about the "clapping" by the audience at the end of the movies in various places. Seems the movie is more popular than these darwinistic critics, like even Michael Savage who labeled ID a hoax on his site. Such uneducated people hiding behind PhD's of no worth in real life. Ask questions of the darwinists folks. They can't answer you, but they sure can tap dance. Any good dance music anybody??
