McSame chose Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his vice-presidential nominee. This dashed all hopes of a McSame-Mittens ticket, a vehicle of such astounding hilarity as has not been seen in eons.
The McCain-Palin ticket has plenty of opportunities for fun as well. Given McCain's fondness for and treatment of younger women, I expect questions will be raised. Double that given the frequency of beauty queens in his inner circle (for instance: "McCain hires beauty queen to wrangle interns," "At 14, [Cindy McCain] was crowned Junior Rodeo Queen of Arizona," "McCain chooses ex-beauty queen for VP," "She is McCain's first wife, Carol, who was a famous beauty and a successful swimwear model when they married in 1965," "In high school, [McCain fling Vicki] Iseman was a cheerleader").
Other fun facts about Palin: Though she's got a reputation as a corruption-fighter, she was oddly supportive of indicted Sen. Ted "Tubes" Stevens. She said that the Senator, who had massive house remodeling done for free by contractors hoping he'd bring home the pork, "has dedicated his life to the betterment of the state." She declined to call for his resignation, even while saying that the indictment "rocks the foundation of our state."
Perhaps that's what McCain sees in her: an ability to take both sides of an issue that rivals his own.

She has five kids, one of them with Down's Syndrome. How in the world does she think she has time to be vice-president, let alone president?!?!

MorningAngel, maybe you were joking, but discriminating against Palin for her family status is wrong wrong wrong. There are plenty of good reasons not to like her; this is not one of them.

Vicki Iseman was married during the time frame that the New York Times noted that top McCain advisors were "convinced the relationship had become romantic" with John McCain. Read the story again with the thought she was married and it changes the story. Ms.Iseman got divorced in the middle of the relationship in June 1999 from lobbyist husband who has telecommunication clients.

At first I was elated: "A brilliant move on the part of the McCain camp!" I thought. Now I'm thinking more clearly. DOINK! I guess I still won't be voting for anybody, except maybe my old pal Ralph Nader, who used to scream at me on the phone when I worked at MIT.
