Strange things show up there

ScienceBlog reports: Ouch! Transplant surgeons remove healthy kidney through donor's vagina:

In what is believed to be a first-ever procedure, surgeons at Johns Hopkins have successfully removed a healthy donor kidney through a small incision in the back of the donor’s vagina.

This reminds me of a case report I recall from the late '90s:

Eight-Pound Man Removed From Woman's Vagina October 29, 1997

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—In a bizarre case that has baffled medical professionals across the country, surgeons at Albuquerque's Veteran's Memorial Hospital removed a living eight-pound man from the confines of an area woman's vagina Monday.

The unusually small man, who has refused to identify himself or give a reason for his presence in the vagina, was extremely disoriented throughout the incident, and, according to eyewitnesses, was "nude and covered in blood and gore." Though the man strenuously resisted rescue attempts, screaming and kicking wildly at medical personnel, he has not yet been charged with any crime.

My interest in all of this is entirely unrelated to learning that my cousin's wife recently had an experience like that in New Mexico. Fortunately, he and his wife are very happy with the adorable tiny human.
