Something to read while having it. Why do people still drink it although there are no malarial mosquitoes where it is now had (such as, by me right now in Amersham)? Well, what can we say except that history is arbitrary and it has the advantage of being in the past and hence unquestionable.

Probably because they like it -it was never that effective against malaria. I came across a very amusing site earlier which had some great advice about the effectiveness of different anti-mosquito products along with some hilarious videos http://www.avoidingbites.com
fyi there are 33 species of mosquito in the UK & around half of them are capable of carrying malaria! Cheers, Dr A Funtz
