As for commenting - yes, we are pushing HARD for OpenID. We've been promised Twitter/Facebook for certain, later this week.

Well, great news, but SA site is still a tad wonky/unstable & rather unresponsive on loading new pages.

Requires site specific registering and login, meh - could live with that but not really appealing.

Twitter/Facebook might be available as additional login methods? Yeah, no fucking way I'm gonna use those as login method for blog comments, to me these are reserved for real life linked usage.

Any reason why OpenID is not available?

Blargh, and RSS feeds aren't readily available (via easy to spot links) - seemingly only summary & editorial/stuff feeds.
No proper explanation is given what summarized RSS feeds (e.g. Global) aggregate.
For contributing blogs (like yours) I can't find links to the RSS feed at all - not user friendly. (Yeah, I see it in post above how to manually enter their URLs, but still.)

Due to the mass exodus to SA, I'll happen to post my feedback here. Care to pester your new blogging network overlords right away? ;-)

First - thanks for the recommendation to my post! You rock.

Second - this is a great take on the service that's mostly riddled with technonerds and tech-pundits.

Your feedback on Hangout gave me an idea from an educator's perspective - imagine Document / YouTube sharing to a remote classroom with kids asking questions over video, or collaborating on class projects using it. Not a bad notion, considering it's completely plausible that Docs & such will make their way into Hangout.
