Pharyngula's Mutating Genre Meme Lands Here

Primate Diaries passed this meme on to me. It was started by Scibling PZ Myers at Pharyngula as a means of demonstrating evolution in cyberspace.

First, the rules:

There are a set of questions below that are all of the form, "The best [subgenre] [medium] in [genre] is...". Copy the questions, and before answering them, you may modify them in a limited way, carrying out no more than two of these operations:

* You can leave them exactly as is.

* You can delete any one question.

* You can mutate either the genre, medium, or subgenre of any one question. For instance, you could change "The best time travel novel in SF/Fantasy is..." to "The best time travel novel in Westerns is...", or "The best time travel movie in SF/Fantasy is...", or "The best romance novel in SF/Fantasy is...".

* You can add a completely new question of your choice to the end of the list, as long as it is still in the form "The best [subgenre] [medium] in [genre] is...".

* You must have at least one question in your set, or you've gone extinct, and you must be able to answer it yourself, or you're not viable.

Then answer your possibly mutant set of questions. Please do include a link back to the blog you got them from, to simplify tracing the ancestry, and include these instructions.

Finally, pass it along to any number of your fellow bloggers. Remember, though, your success as a Darwinian replicator is going to be measured by the propagation of your variants, which is going to be a function of both the interest your well-honed questions generate and the number of successful attempts at reproducing them.

I am so happy to see a couple of people so far add a food question! Pierogies - yum!

My mouth is watering! My grandmother was still making these doughwrapped miracles of the mortal world before she passed on at 96. Ive tried my hand at making them with some success but I just learned that my sister has Grandmas recipe. Perhaps we should have a Pierogi Festival at the NC Science Blogger Conference.

I'm sitting here eating a good California dinner of tofu and broccolini in peanut sauce (I'm not even kidding), and you go and write the magic word "pierogies." I'm Scranton-born, see, so just the word is evocative enough to force me to buy some frozen pierogies tomorrow. And some butter. And onions. Well, and some jeans a size bigger will also be in order a guess...

Oh, and Handmaid's Tale--that's extra-scary because of the Duke Chapel cameo, isn't it?

Pierogie-lovers of the world, unite!

Yes, yes, a pierogie-fest at the NC Science Blogger Conference! Well, really, a pierogie festival anywhere sounds good. The bubbas in my hometown still make them at the church hall and sell them every so often. Mmmmmmm....
